Brighton College Dubai Hosts BSME U15 Blue Games, Celebrates Standout Victories in Girls’ Netball and Athletics
Brighton College Dubai celebrated an exciting moment in its sporting calendar as it proudly hosted the BSME Under-15 ‘Blue Games’ for the first time. Held from November 21st to 23rd, the three-day tournament welcomed hundreds of talented Year 9 and 10 pupils from across the Middle East, transforming the College campus into a vibrant arena of competition, teamwork and school pride.
The BSME (British Schools in the Middle East) U15 Blue Games unite similar-sized schools for balanced, high-quality competition across boys’ volleyball, football and athletics, and girls’ netball, football and athletics. This year’s edition brought together ten British-curriculum schools from the UAE, Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, marking a major step forward in the College’s commitment to providing high-quality school sport and extracurricular provision in the region.
Brighton College Dubai delivered an exceptional set of results across the girls’ events, securing first place in both Girls’ Athletics and Girls’ Netball, achievements underscored by Year 10 pupil Rosie being named Girls’ Athletics Player of the Tournament and Year 10 pupil Coco receiving the Netball Player of the Tournament award. The College also achieved a strong second-place finish in Girls’ Football.
While Brighton College Dubai’s most impressive successes came within the girls’ events, the boys’ competitions also featured determined performances and closely contested matches that added to the competitive character of the Games. Together, these performances propelled Brighton College Dubai to an impressive third-place overall team finish, just one point behind its sister school, Brighton College Abu Dhabi.
Reflecting on the success, Mr. Simon Crane, Head Master of Brighton College Dubai, said: “Hosting the BSME U15 Games for the first time has been a significant moment for our College. Our pupils demonstrated determination, skill and exemplary sportsmanship across all events, and we are particularly proud of the girls’ outstanding victories in Netball and Athletics. The dedication of our coaches and the support of our parent community also played an important role in shaping our pupils’ performances throughout the tournament.”
As first-time hosts, Brighton College Dubai delivered a seamless and uplifting tournament that showcased both the strength of its sporting programme and its growing regional presence. Participating schools included South View School, Hartland International School, Kent College Dubai, British International School Jeddah, British International School Cairo (BISC), Doha British School – Ain Khaled, The British School of Kuwait, Reach British School, Brighton College Abu Dhabi and Brighton College Dubai.
