Eight-Year-Old Repton Al Barsha Pupil Wins Gold at the Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025
Repton Al Barsha is delighted to announce the success of Year 4 pupil, Aisha Ahmed, who secured first place at the prestigious Abu Dhabi World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025. Competing in a highly demanding youth category, Aisha demonstrated exceptional skill, determination and maturity well beyond her years.
Considered one of the most significant events in the global Jiu-Jitsu calendar, the World Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship gathers young athletes from across the world to compete at the highest level. Known for its rigorous standards and world-class officiating, the championship provides a platform for rising talents to showcase their technical ability and competitive spirit.
Aisha’s journey in Jiu-Jitsu began at the age of five, when she and her brother first joined Delariva Jiujitsu Abu Dhabi near their home in Abu Dhabi. She now trains five days a week at a specialist Jiu-Jitsu studio in Dubai, Studio100, where she has developed a strong routine built around discipline, perseverance and a genuine love for the sport. Her passion has grown steadily, encouraged by experienced coaches and strengthened by her determination to challenge herself against increasingly advanced levels of competition.
In the weeks leading up to the championship, Aisha trained intensively and competed in the Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Championship in Abu Dhabi, where she secured a gold medal. This victory strengthened her confidence ahead of the World Pro and provided valuable competitive experience under pressure.
Her preparation included daily sessions, technical refinement and exposure to more advanced sparring partners, all contributing to her readiness for the world stage.
During the competition, Aisha advanced through three rounds, showing calm decision-making and strong tactical awareness. Her final match proved to be the most challenging of all, requiring video-assisted refereeing due to its intensity. Initially behind on points, Aisha executed a decisive submission technique, securing her victory and earning the gold medal.
Her family described watching the moment as “unforgettable”, adding that her determination and courage left them incredibly proud.
A Well-Rounded Repton Pupil
Beyond Jiu-Jitsu, Aisha is known at school for her cheerful and energetic personality. She enjoys football, recently became the captain of the Repton Al Barsha netball team, and has a flair for creative writing. Her classmates are inspired by her achievements, and her medals have been celebrated across the school community.
Aisha’s parent, Ahmed Naseef, expressed his joy saying: “Seeing Aisha win was incredibly exciting and emotional for us. She has worked so hard and shown such bravery and determination. Her achievements have given her so much confidence, and we are very proud of the young athlete she is becoming.”
Sharing her excitement about the win, Aisha said: “if you want to achieve something, focus and never give up”.
Aisha also shared her ambitions for the future, expressing her hope to become a Jiu-Jitsu coach one day and to train children free of charge, believing that self-defence should be accessible to all.
Aisha’s journey has been supported by the encouraging environment at Repton Al Barsha, where her teachers recognise and celebrate her accomplishments. Her class teacher continues to motivate her, helping her balance her academic responsibilities with her training schedule.
Chandini Misra, Principal of Repton Al Barsha, commented: “Aisha’s achievement is a wonderful example of what can be accomplished through dedication, courage and a genuine love for learning new skills. She brings great energy to our school community, and we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with her and her family.”
Repton Al Barsha congratulates Aisha on this exceptional accomplishment and looks forward to supporting her as she continues to grow, compete and build her future in Jiu-Jitsu.
