Tanglin Trust School has won the Curriculum Initiative of the Year in the Tes Awards for International Schools 2025!

Tanglin Trust School is excited to share that it has won Curriculum Initiative of the Year in the Tes Awards for International Schools. These awards celebrate exceptional schools and educators worldwide who are transforming the lives of children and young people through inspirational teaching, leadership, and innovation.

Now in their second year, the Tes Awards for International Schools recognise outstanding international schools outside the UK that deliver British or international curricula. Building on the success of the long-running Tes Schools Awards in the UK, often described as the “Oscars of education”, these awards shine a spotlight on excellence across the international schools sector.

Craig Considine, CEO of Tanglin Trust School said:

‘To be awarded Tes International Schools Award for Curriculum Initiative of the Year is recognition of Tanglin’s collective effort in establishing a bold and innovative educational programme that instils the values of ‘curiosity, confidence and community’ in our Middle School students.

Now in its second year, the programme is already becoming very much part of our school culture. The more we live this experience as a school community, the deeper our understanding and appreciation of what it offers to young people—and indeed to adults—becomes.’

In awarding Curriculum Initiative of the Year, Tes explained that Tanglin Trust School’s transformative Highlands Programme takes experiential learning to new heights through a five-week initiative at their Victoria Alps campus in Australia. Designed to nurture curiosity, confidence and community, the programme immerses students in environments that bring subjects to life delivering core academics through place-based learning such as river fieldwork, ecosystem exploration and reflective writing. Confidence grows as students tackle shared living, and the absence of digital distractions fosters a deep sense of community. This approach prepares learners not only for academic success but for life beyond school, cultivating resilience, curiosity and social responsibility.

The Tes judges said: ‘This bold and innovative programme stood out for its depth and ambition, adapting the curriculum to an outdoor environment while prioritising academic continuity and holistic development. Its thoughtful approach to social-emotional growth, digital detox, and community engagement makes it a courageous initiative with lasting impact.’
