Ladybird Nursery is a well established and one of the oldest nurseries in Abu Dhabi. It has been situated in the heart of the city for 15 years and has maintained a homely and welcoming learning environment throughout this time. Ladybird incorporates the best of the British system (EYFS) and the Montessori principles and method. In the best British tradition, Ladybird is ready to incorporate new practice and research in the early years into our existing program. We promote independence from our very youngest rooms and assist the children on the natural journey of learning.
Our curriculum and materials incorporate the EYFS and Montessori areas of learning. The first three are essential to all of the children’s learning and are developed in all other areas
The other more specific areas cover all the foundations of learning, refining of the senses, development of life skills and the academic areas.
The children are taken through concrete activities which develop skills in each of the specific areas above. Practical Life contains preparation for math, language and the sciences as the children refine their fine motor skills, learn mathematics in practice and terminology through the material and build up vocabulary. The Sensorial activities help the children refine the 5 senses and again incorporate math, language and science preparation as the children learn to estimate and grade, weigh and compare and learn new mathematical terms.
In the early years it is essential to observe the children as individuals and it only through knowing the child’s interests and way of learning that we can see them as an unique little scientist and give them the right tools and means to develop. It is for this reason that we lead with observation and plan according to the individual child’s need, interests and according to their individual pace.
Our teachers sit with the children one to one and in small groups. This allows the teacher to concentrate on the individual child and allows the child to really contribute and develop at their own pace and truly express their interests.
We encourage independence from the very earliest age. It is only through independence that a child can learn to their fullest. We know that what the hand does the brain learns. It is through repeating an activity alone without assistance that the brain develops and the child gains confidence.
Our curriculum allows the children to move through a progressively complex series of activities in all their areas of learning. The child may start by using pegs and doing jisaws which leads to using tongs and finally tweezers as their fine motor skills advance. When they start to write we find that their pincer grip has developed and holding the pencil is as easy as if they born doing it. This approach is followed in all learning.

We love the children to experiment with different media and our Arts, Science and Baking Room allows them to explore many forms of artistic expression. We concentrate on project work and process art in this room. Using a process art approach, the teacher places the activtity in front of the child and demonstrates how it may be used but allows the child to work creatively. Children need to see the best model of any activity but they need time to experiment and this is true in all areas of learning including art. Our art shelf in the classroom aids the children in the development of skills in art such as gluing, painting and clay work. Both the progressive art shelf and the free art expression of process art complement one another beautifully.
We treat the children as intelligent human beings and have high expectations of them since children (just as grown ups) will live up to what is expected of them. We promote independence from a young age and build concentration from the children’s interests in order to establish habits of natural learning that will last throughout life. Our planning and recording is directly related to the individual child and we focus on each child’s individual and holistic development.

My son has been attending Ladybird Nursery for 3 years. The staff has good communication with the parents, friendly but professional. They are genuinely concerned about the care and growth of all the children there. I am so lucky we found this amazing place for our son to get a good education as well as support in the areas of social and emotional needs. I have nothing to say but wonderful things about this Nursery!

The best nursery in Abu Dhabi , since 10 years my duaghter was in this nursery and now again when i got new son i think only about this nursery, tour kida will be improved mentally and personality its really the best i recommend to all mothers who really cares about their kids

We are pleased for the 2nd year with Ladybird Nursery, and so lucky to be part of its family. First of all the lovely welcoming staff, the healthy environment and the special nurse.
The activities are varied and useful, we can notice the influence of ladybird on our little daughter, especially this year. Please let me mention; Miss lindasy, miss Lizhan and miss Yasmine.
I would take the chance to thanks the ladybird staff for keeping us updated with everything happens with our little ones.

I can't thank the teachers enough for their care and nurture towards my daughter who has shown excellent improvement. As my family says 200% development. We have seen amazing progress in speech, conversation, motor skills etc. My daughter loves the classroom and attached play area. A truly wonderful nursery, the teachers and helpers are just amazing. Laith has been going to this school since he was 8 months old and has grown so so much. I would highly recommend this nursery for all children (three of my friends have enrolled their child based on my feedback). I promise you will not be disappointed with your choice.

We have been so happy with our daughter’s first year at Ladybird Nursery. I visited a lot of nurseries all over Abu Dhabi but none had the instant welcome that Ladybird had. All the staff, from the cleaner to the Director knew my daughter’s name from the first week and always take the time to talk to her and ask about her day.
We pick her up and it’s clear she’s had fun. She has also made some lovely friends. The activities organised are wonderful too - teddy bears picnic, a visit from a petting farm, splash days, baking, dancing, ukulele classes, Arabic singing and so many more things which create a fun learning environment.
We love the Montessori approach and care that each staff member gives to our daughter. Thank you Ladybird Nursery!
