Welcome to Sohar University, the first private university and only the second university established in the Sultanate of Oman. SU is a young and vibrant institution keen to make its mark on the higher education landscape in Oman and beyond. SU has been producing graduates for over 10 years, graduates who are contributing to the well-being of society and the economic progress of the nation and the region.

Our commitment is to academic quality. The primary goal is to deliver quality programs, which are rigorously assured by internal mechanisms and external audits; programs delivered with first-rate tuition from well qualified and experienced academic staff utilising modern state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities. Our recently completed academic buildings provide high-quality lecture theatres and modern laboratories with the latest teaching and research equipment. The soon to be completed Learning Resources Centre will further support our ability to provide a quality learning experience for students.

More recently, we have increased the emphasis on research. Our staff have been successful in winning research grants from The Research Council of Oman and from international research funding bodies. We are embarking on a number of exciting research and industry collaboration initiatives with major companies operating in Oman. Our students and the community at large will benefit from these research initiatives.

Sohar University is now well placed to capitalise on the achievements of its formative years and will confirm its place amongst the leading providers of higher education in the Sultanate.

Sohar University aims to create research and research training that has local, regional and global impact and relevance. Since the 2008 till today a considerable progress in the research and industry collaboration is made to build up the university research profile. • Larger staff and student engagement in funded research projects.
• Improving publications records and Research-Gate score.
• More industrial R&D engagement and grants.
