The ACCA qualification is divided into two levels - Fundamentals and Professional. The Fundamentals level is sub-divided into two modules - Knowledge and Skills. The Knowledge module introduces students to the core areas of financial and management accounting. This provides the platform from which the other technical accountancy areas will be studied in greater detail in the Skills module. Te Skills module contains six subjects which comprehensively cover the main technical areas that any accountant, regardless of their future career aspirations, are expected to have mastered. These comprise law, performance management, taxation, financial reporting, auditing and financial management.
The Professional level is sub-divided into two modules - Essentials and Options.
Three GCSEs and two A Levels in five separate subjects including maths and English or their equivalent are required for this accountancy qualification.
None, it is open access. So if you do not have the entry requirements to start at the ACCA Qualification, you can start your studies here. If you are starting out in accounting and finance or already working in finance but have no formal qualifications, you can start your journey with ACCA at our foundations level.
Exams are currently held twice a year in June and December in all markets.
From 2016 ACCA exams will be held four times a year in all markets. In order to attempt exams, trainees must first register with ACCA. Trainees can register for ACCA at any time in the year, but the deadlines apply to exam sessions.
Many students begin their ACCA careers in entry-level positions, such as in accounts payable/receivable, for a range of organisations. Further tuition and experience can lead to more senior positions over time, such as a financial controller or director.
