The mission of École Alpha Secondary staff, together with our parents and our community is to provide a supportive climate in a multi-cultural environment where all individuals have the opportunity to maximize their talents for the benefit of society. Through academic, creative and extra-curricular pursuits, students and staff are encouraged to develop their potential with a desire to engage in lifelong learning.
We would like to acknowledge and thank The Coast Salish People, The Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish on whose traditional territories we teach, learn and live. The Indigenous success team at Ecole Alpha Secondary provides enhanced programming and services to Indigenous students and their families. Our enhanced services are intended to create pathways to success for each and every Indigenous student within our school. School based services include, but are not limited to. Indigenous student and family support : Lorelei Lyons, Amber Norris, Shelley Greene, Frank McLean
Works with classroom teachers around inclusion of Indigenous perspectives into classroom practice. Supports teachers by connecting them with resources and skills to implement indigenous perspective respectfully for all learners. Our goal is to help bridge the gap for students transitioning from their Elementary School to Alpha Secondary School. Through classroom workshops, we will provide information about Alpha Secondary School and engage students in experiential educational programs.
The intent of this program is to bring enriching experiences to our family of schools alongside the district MACC and Challenge programs. These workshops are designed to engage students in Applied Design Skills and Technology, providing opportunities for teachers to examine different approaches to teaching the new BC Curriculum.
Alpha students will be selecting their courses for the 2020 – 2021 school year starting in early February and concluding by February 28th. Counsellors will be helping students with making decisions for course selection through presentations during class time between January 30th and February 5th.
