The American University of Bahrain offers degree programs delivered by highly qualified educators and mentors with a unique collaborative approach focused on graduate outcomes and employment-readiness. Learning and growing within our vibrant and extensive campus in Riffa, students will gain the technical, professional and personal skills necessary for a lifetime of success.
The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) is the first comprehensive, purpose-built, American-style co-educational university in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Our University offers an American-style university education which fosters interaction and collaboration between students, faculty and the professional community, resulting in a unique educational journey for students, going beyond what’s learned in the classrooms.
AUBH is proud to be accredited by the Higher Education Council of the Ministry of Education of Bahrain, and is in the process of applying for U.S. accreditation with the highly respected New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), an independent and self-governing body and one of the seven recognized U.S. regional accreditors by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), holding the highest level of quality assurance at the institutional level. NECHE accredits some of the world’s most prestigious universities including Yale, Harvard, Berkeley, Brown, and Notre-Dame.
Thinking holistically to the challenge of global employability readiness, AUBH curriculum is built by experts and specialists to equip students with the knowledge and soft-skills to succeed in a rapidly changing and evolving environment. The AUBH quality of American-style education mirrors that of the best universities in the United States.
Our President and senior stakeholders have a united and concise goal in mind – a lifetime of success for our students, and in turn a tangible benefit for the national economy and workforce. Our mission and vision align with the vision set forth in the Higher Education Council’s strategy:
“The vision is to position Bahrain as a regional hub for quality higher education, producing graduates with the skills, knowledge and behaviors required to succeed in the global economy while contributing to the sustainable and competitive growth of Bahrain.”
Our University mission is to provide both Bahraini and international students with opportunities to realize their professional and personal goals through a rigorous and engaging student-centric environment. We will create a unique campus atmosphere that is conducive to learning and fosters creativity in a multicultural setting, embracing diversity and facilitating intellectual inquiry, ethical behavior and social and civic responsibility. We aim to produce career-oriented and employment-ready graduates equipped with the skills and knowledge required to advance the economies and societies in which they operate.
American University of Bahrain (AUBH) will be recognized as a place where students can come to actualize their true potential and acquire real-world skills that lead to success in a competitive global environment. We see a new caliber of graduate, empowered with the ability to think critically and add real strategic value to the field they choose to enter. It is our vision that employers in the local and regional marketplaces will seek AUBH graduates for their confidence, professionalism and readiness to enter their chosen career. Our University will be known for its integrity as it models excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, and student life.

Pros: The campus is brand new Cons: Some info on faculty contracts/working conditions at American University of Bahrain: Basically it’s an unskilled worker contract No maximum working hours or teaching load, so technically unlimited working/teaching hours Work up to 6 days a week including weekends No overtime pay Mandatory summer term teaching with no extra pay. The summer term will be considered as part of the basic salary Maximum 30 days paid vacation per year (same as unskilled labor) and may include national holidays. Local standard for university faculty is 60 days Work assignments that are outside of what faculty were hired for, such as marketing and recruiting duties, since it’s a new university. Duties may include faculty visiting local high schools to promote the university and recruit new students.
