American University of Sharjah announced that remote operations will remain “until further notice.” The educational institution said it would continue to monitor developments.
The move aims to “prioritise safety and well-being of the community,” AUS added. Both classes and assessments will be conducted online; faculty and staff will also work remotely. The university urged community members to follow official channels for updates.
Meanwhile, some universities across the country will adopt a phased return to in-person classes for some students, starting today.
The move follows guidance from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR), which asked institutions to resume face-to-face learning for those courses that require hands-on training.
These include courses involving clinical practice, laboratory work, field applications and in-person examinations.
Educational institutions across the country moved online from March 2, 2026 amid Iranian strikes on UAE and other Gulf states. The Emirates’ air defences have so far intercepted 414 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,914 drones, as of March 29.
