We are a Federation of two schools with a shared Governing Body, situated Burnt Oak. Education is the key to social mobility and it underpins what we do at both The Annunciation Catholic Infant School and The Annunciation Catholic Junior School. We have a varied, broad and balanced curriculum that is contextualised and reflects our local area and the community we serve. It is ambitious, challenging and caters to the needs of all learners.

Reading is given high priority across our curriculum. We believe that reading is a core skill which allows children to access learning across other areas. Our reading offer ensures that children firstly become fluent readers so they can find a love for reading and use it as a tool in life. Your child will encounter reading opportunities across a range of lessons during their school day.

We promote independence and resilience in our pupils as we believe these are life skills they will need. Our aim is for our pupils to become life long learners with a passion to find the answer to something they are unsure of. We never place a glass ceiling on what our pupils can achieve and firmly believe that we offer our children experiences and learning daily that they would not have had were they not to attend school that day.

Key Intent points:

  • Promote positivity, resilience, well-being and self-esteem
  • Meet the needs of every child across the whole curriculum
  • Focus on the development of language and communication in every aspect of school life
  • Provide children with the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed
  • Provide a broad, ambitious, engaging and relevant curriculum
  • Rooted in Gospel values develop global citizens of the future
  • Provide both a cumulative and spiral curriculum
  • Children will be encouraged to be independent learners who can work in collaboration with others
  • The curriculum is ambitious, challenging and caters to the needs of all learners

As a federation, both schools work in close partnership with one another, sharing expertise and resources, thus enabling us to provide the very best education for every pupil in our community.

Mission Statement:
‘Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.’ Our  mission statement “Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire” and was created with pupils, parents, staff and governors. We believe it underpins everything we do at our schools. All of the adults and pupils at The Annnunciation Catholic Schools, strive each day, to ensure we are safe, happy and excited to learn with the belief that we can achieve anything.  With God’s guidance and blessing, we walk alongside our one another, as we undertake our faith and educational journeys.

Aim of Values Education

Through the Values we aim to:

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour, conduct and self confidence by developing strong values within the pupils at the school.
  • Develop pupils understanding of what values are and why they are important in life.
  • Encourage children to ‘live the values’ in all aspects of their lives both in school and out.
  • Encourage children to become readily prepared for the diverse world in which we live.
  • Promote values to pupils in every aspect of school life.
  • Promote values in the way in which adults interact with each other and with pupils
  • Display our school values and encourage all visitors to take account of them in their time in the school.
  • Encourage parents to support the programme at home by promoting the ‘value of the week’ to parents in newsletters and on Class Dojo.
  • Enable children to focus upon the positive aspects of themselves that they can value, thereby reminding them of their individual worth, their worth in the school and wider communities and the worth of those communities themselves.
  • To link our school values with the British Values.

At our schools, we recognise that during recent years a great deal of national and local effort has been rightly directed towards school improvement and curriculum development.

However we also believe that Values Education has a crucial role in education, because it plays a part in raising achievement and it encourages pupils to be confident, knowledgeable and articulate learners.  Values supports quality teaching and learning, whilst making a positive contribution to the development of a fair society equipping our children to become global citizens of the future.
