Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy

We became an Ark academy in September 2015. By joining Ark, we have become part of a network of schools that is characterised by its exceptionally high expectations for every child. We aim to provide an excellent education that lays the foundations for your child to reach the academic standards and have the breadth of experience necessary to gain a place at university at the end of their secondary education.

Like other Ark schools, we put English and mathematics at the heart of our primary curriculum and provide outstanding teaching and support. We also use the latest educational technology to ensure that your child has access to personalised tuition, both within school and beyond the school day. This way, we help every child to do as well as they possibly can. Our love of new technology also means that we are able to keep parents updated on their children’s daily progress by sending information directly, but securely, to your mobile device.

At Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy, we have three core values which are informed by our vision. These are:

• We achieve:We work hard in the academy to ensure that all pupils become proficient in reading, writing and maths as a minimum. We expect that our pupils will have a strong base from which to do well in secondary education to enable them to achieve a university degree.

For our pupils, we simplify this into a few simple, but meaningful words: “We respect, believe, achieve.” We are a values-driven school which means that everything that we do and how we behave in the academy is linked to our vision and values.

Each Ark school has its own distinctive character but they all share the same goal: to make sure every pupil does well enough to go to university or pursue the career of their choice. From the moment your child joins our school, we focus on laying the foundations for their future success.

At Ark Chamberlain, we want our children to develop a love of learning and experience a rounded education. We ensure every year group covers a broad and balanced curriculum which engages the children. Every day, maths, writing and reading will be taught, as these are core subjects and very important to children’s development. In addition to this, we teach topic-which covers geography and history, PSHCE- which involves children’s personal, social and health education, RE, computing and Spanish. We are incredibly lucky to have specialist teachers to deliver PE, music and art. These subjects are taught once a week and give the children a wealth of opportunities to extend their learning.

We want Ark Chamberlain Primary Academy to be enjoyable for every pupil. Pupils should be able to learn, appreciate their lessons, make friends and be enthusiastic about education. We want to encourage good behaviour and discourage behaviour that would undermine learning or confidence between pupils or pupils and staff. We will acknowledge desirable behaviour with praise and great behaviour with tangible rewards. We will impose consistent, clear and unavoidable sanctions for unacceptable behaviour. We will ensure that, whenever possible, pupils understand the consequences of choosing not to follow the behaviour policy.
