Up to 10 Arts Honours scholarships will be provided by the College of Arts, Law and Education at the University of Tasmania each year. Visit the website for more information on studying honours in the College, including selection criteria and research proposals.

Closing Date
31 October 2020, for students commencing Honours in Semester 1, 2021.

Apply
Applicants should apply online and forward a copy of the referee's report to two referees. All potential honours students should make contact with the Honours Coordinator in their discipline to discuss interests and options.

Eligibility

Available to students who have completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Tasmania, or another Australian university, and who will be commencing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) or equivalent honours in a Social Sciences or Creative Arts program at the University of Tasmania in Semester 1, 2021. Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:

  • Results achieved at undergraduate level
  • Evidence of initiative, research skills and general aptitude of the applicant as provided by the referees
  • Evidence of research strength in line with the College's research capacity and strength as provided by the research proposal; and
  • Availability of an appropriate supervisor and the capacity of the School to provide support for the proposed project.

On-going Eligibility

To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.

About Company

Established on 1 July 2017, by aligning the previous Arts, Law and Education faculties as a single entity. The College brings together teaching and research expertise in creative arts, education, humanities, law, and social sciences to create a multi-disciplinary hothouse for exploring new ideas and knowledge that will help shape the futures of individuals and societies, both locally and internationally.

The College offers a diverse curriculum that encourages students to take a multi-faceted approach to exploring issues and ideas and provides learning experiences, including local placements and international exchanges, that prepare them for exciting and meaningful careers.

The College hosts a number of institutes that reflect its research strengths. The Institute for Social Change, the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute and the Asia Institute Tasmania challenge current thinking, educate and inform, and contribute to the formation of public policy and the creation of better communities.
