Abu Dhabi, UAE: Aspen Heights British School, a new British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi celebrated its official opening on Monday 2nd October with a grand launch event at the school. At the occasion, Principal Emma Shanahan and her staff, accompanied by the school’s parents and their children, welcomed guests with VIPs including Shehab Al Hashemi, CEO at Investment Holdings and Chairman of Aspen Heights, representatives from the British Embassy in the UAE, and Christine Simmonds, – Director of Schools in the Gulf, International Schools Partnership.
To mark this event, a ribbon cutting took place with speeches from VIPs involved in the launch of the school. Following that, children from Years FS1 to Year 5 opened the special assembly by singing the UAE National Anthem, followed by songs showing the progress in language skills they had made since the start of term. Some children shared a few words about what they have particularly enjoyed about their new school. The Principal then invited Shebab Al Hashemi and Christine Simmonds to assist in the planting of two trees, symbolising the growth Aspen Heights will make in the years ahead, and echoing the conservation theme which runs throughout the school.Guests then had the opportunity to tour the school showcasing ‘Amazing Learning’ in action in the classrooms.
Shehab Al Hashemi, Chairman of Aspen Heights said: “This is a special day for us as it has been a long journey since the team made the acquisition of this land and started to build – the result is just fantastic. The Aspen Heights project wouldn’t have been completed without the sheer hard work and dedication of everyone involved. We all walked together with one single objective in mind which was to support the UAE’s future generations by providing them a better education, where good and regular communication between the parents, teachers and the management is a key to good performance.”

Since it opened on 10 September 2017, Aspen Heights British School has enrolled over 100 children, with admissions still open for children from outside the UAE, and FS1 age.Oct 2017
