Latin American citizens, study your PhD in Melbourne as part of the Australian Technology Network PhD Scholarships

RMIT University is offering PhD scholarships to eligible candidates from Latin America to upskill and reduce the skills shortage in various countries. RMIT encourages successful graduates to return to their home country post-graduation to share the knowledge and skills gained through their RMIT PhD with their fellow native citizens. RMIT offers research programs across a comprehensive range of disciplines at Research Masters and Doctorate (PhD) levels.

Value and duration
This scholarship provides the following benefit to recipients:

  • A stipend of AU$31,260 per year pro-rata for 3 years up to a maximum of 3.5 years
  • Tuition Fee scholarship for 3 years up to a maximum of 3.5 years
  • Contribution to relocation costs to Australia
  • Health Insurance (OSHC) for visa length duration

How to apply

  • Identify your research topic (see Identify your research topic)
    • Applicants must align their research with an RMIT approved research topic - please make contact with the RMIT supervisor to develop and shape your research proposal
    • Submit your application - this is a 2-step process, EOI & Full application (refer to How to apply)
    • When answering the question If you will not be supported by an RMIT research scholarship how will you support your studies, select Sponsorship
    • Select the Organisation - ATN-LATAM Research Scholarship Scheme (ATN-LATAM).
  • If your application is successful, you will be provided with an offer of admission
    • Your offer letter will advise if any further documentation is required to finalise your commencement at RMIT.
  • Travel to Melbourne, Australia and Enrol
    • Once enrolled, you will have access to RMIT systems, library, journals and databases
    • Candidates will meet their RMIT supervision team.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a citizen of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru or Uruguay

Applicants with dual Australian citizenship are ineligible.

Applicants must hold, or be currently completing:

  • A Master by Research
  • A Master by coursework with a significant research component graded as high distinction, or equivalent
  • An Honours degree achieving first class honours
  • A 4 year bachelor degree achieving a GPA of 4 or equivalent (80%) or above
  • Publications or significant research experience that could be deemed equivalent

As this scholarship is for commencing doctoral research candidates, applications will not be considered from current research candidates.
