We are a welcoming and caring school which believes in ‘Putting Children First’. All the staff in school work extremely hard to provide pupils with a range of exciting learning opportunities, in an environment where they feel safe, secure, valued and confident to contribute. We are committed to the pursuit of outstanding academic progress, the highest possible achievement for all and the development of all our pupils as resilient and independent young people, prepared for the excitement and challenges ahead. As part of this commitment, we maintain high expectations of our pupils for their own pursuit of excellence too, at all times promoting and rewarding effort, attainment and exemplary behaviour.

Having acieved Peacemala accreditation and Unicef's Level 1 Rights Respecting School status, we are now working towards Level 2. This ensures the social and emotional well-being of our children and provides them with the foundation for their individual academic success, beginning to prepare them for life in modern Britain.

At Baguley Hall, children learn to respect themselves and each other and to have excellent attitudes to their learning. Their achievements are recognised with a variety of rewards, these vary, depending on the age of the children.

At Baguley Hall we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in Nursery and Reception and the National Curriculum in Key Stage 1 and 2.Reading and phonics Letters and Sounds, supported by the Jolly Phonics materials, Phonics Bug books and resources and Support for Spelling is used across school for the teaching of reading and spelling. Applied reading skills are developed during Guided Reading Sessions, 1:1 reading support provision and with our Home Reader collections. We use a variety of schemes including: Book Bands, Oxford Reading Tree, Collins Big Cats, Rigby Stars and Rigby Navigators.

Our broad curriculum is carefully planned and presented in an interesting, exciting and imaginative manner with lots of opportunities for first-hand experience, practical work, investigation and learning through play. It is enlivened and enriched by visits, visitors, and extensive use of the environment. The basics are taught well and the creative aspects, including art, poetry, story, dance, music, performance are central to our work. Our curriculum is underpinned by our SMSC work as a Peacemala school and our progress towards Level 1 of the Unicef Rights Respecting School Award Programme.

At Baguley Hall we take the safety and welfare of our children very seriously. This includes ensuring safe practice during any use they make of the internet, both in school and, if they follow all our advice, at home aswell. We have our own student digi leaders who work with our Computing Teacher Mrs Batters to spread the message about how to 'Stay Safe On Line'.

Here at Baguley Hall, we work hard to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all children. We recognise that occasionally, some children may require some additional support to achieve their goals. The SEND area will provide you with information and sign post you to areas that might help you to support your child at home.

Our school has been revising and reviewing its behaviour policy. The Action Team was involved in discussions with the staff working party, identifying areas for improvement and discussing the impact of behaviour on learning. They then started off the whole staff meeting with their own Powerpoint presentations, ensuring the voice of the children was a key part of the policy review.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child gives all children the same rights. At our school we teach children about these rights and we work together to ensure they are met, in our school and around the world. We use the rights as the basis of all our work, and behaviour, in school and join campaigns to help other children whose rights are being threatened.

The Governing Body consists of people from various aspects of the school and its wider community and they have a vital role to play in driving up school and pupil performance and ensuring that resources are used well to give every child the best possible education. The Full Governing Body meets four times a year but Governors also attend committee meetings focussed on standards, resources and finance.

The Standards Committee hold the school to account for the educational standards achieved and the quality of education provided. It sets targets for pupils' education and measures the school against those targets. The Resources and Finance Committee is responsible for financial matters. It engages in the setting of the annual school budget and reviews it on a regular basis. Staff appointments, appraisal and pay, and the maintenance of all aspects of the school premises also fall within the remit of this group.

Sport and health have always been extremely important aspects of school life and learning at Baguley Hall Primary School, and so when the government announced that they would be providing Sports Premium funding to improve the provision of PE and sport in school, we were very excited. We have created a provision plan that explains how we are going to invest money (rather than spend it) to maximise the long term impact of our PE provision and ensure that we continue to provide the very best PE and sports provision possible. This plan will be reviewed throughout the year and we will be adding to it over the next few years to ensure the school has a structured approach to achieving its aims.
