Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) has been successfully managing and operating the Bahrain International Airport since 2008. Through the provision of world-class Facilities, operational and commercial excellence, BAC has been attracting and supporting airlines, delivering great passenger and cargo services. With a clear vision of sustaining and building Bahrain International Airport’s Position as an attractive hub for airlines and passengers alike BAC spearheads towards the future connecting Bahrain to the rest of the world.
Our Mission is to work collaboratively with our partners to create a better airport experience for our customers and to be an economic enabler for Bahrain. BAC’s vision has been inspired by Bahrain’s welcoming culture and heritage and build on BIA’s competitive advantage in the region as a friendly and efficient airport. Our strategy promises to further capitalize on these unique elements to boost BIA’s service and operational abilities for the benefit of our travelers and stakeholders, ultimately offering the world a strategic gateway that will make our country proud.
Our vision, mission and strategic objectives were born from within the organization and are the culmination of endless months of hard work committed to by the Executive Management team who worked tirelessly to study the market and understand its needs and requirements whilst anticipating future aviation trends – these findings form the foundations of BAC’s long-term corporate strategy which will see the company through the Airport Modernization Journey and into a new and prosperous era.
Driven by a clear vision to run a friendly and efficient airport for a proud country, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) strives to sustain Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) operational and commercial excellence for the benefit of travellers and stakeholders alike. In cooperation with our partners, we have achieved a great deal over the last nine years, boosting the country’s aviation capabilities as a result.
However, only so much can be achieved with an airport that is currently stretched to more than double its designed capacity. The launch of the Airport Modernisation Programme (AMP) in 2016 marked the start of an exciting journey that will enable the Kingdom’s aviation sector to finally realise its full potential.
The AMP is a two-phased venture that will elevate BIA’s infrastructure, facilities, and services, transforming it into a world-class boutique airport and a key driver of national economic growth. The USD1.1 billion project is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and aims to cement Bahrain’s reputation as a leading aviation hub in the region.
BAC is overseeing this important national project under the supervision of the Ministry of Transportation & Telecommunications. Upon completion, it will increase BIA’s capacity, improve the overall passenger experience, and put the Kingdom’s aviation sector on the world map.
The crowning jewel of the AMP is the new Passenger Terminal Building, which will launch in the third quarter of 2019. Four times larger than the existing facility, it will expand BIA’s capacity to 14 million passengers. It will also be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to enhance efficiency, and improve security.
In line with national efforts to boost tourism and trade, route development remains a major area of focus for BAC. In 2018 alone, 12 new routes were added by airlines operating out of BIA. We look forward to building on the momentum by increasing frequencies, attracting new airlines, and targeting new destinations.
With the ultimate goal of operating a carbon-neutral facility, BAC is taking important steps to minimise BIA’s environmental impact. In 2018, we established an Energy & Water Committee to analyse consumption and set reduction targets for BIA. In addition, the new terminal is targeting LEED Gold certification, a global symbol of sustainability achievement.
Even after the launch of the new terminal, BIA will still be one of the smaller regional airports. However, we believe that its ergonomic design coupled with Bahrain’s renowned hospitality, will put it on par with the best in the world. I would like to thank all our partners and stakeholders for their continued support, which is vital for us to achieve our shared vision.
