The Beehive Montessori School provides an environment that helps the developing child move towards their fullest potential. By respecting and nurturing individual needs and abilities, we encourage an enjoyment of learning, intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional growth, independence, and a sense of community responsibility.
One of the oldest Montessori schools in Perth, the Beehive started in 1977, with less than 20 children, under the guidance of Mrs Renee Taylor. The building in which they operated was a fairly non-descript hall, but this start represented the culmination of a dream for Mrs Taylor and the first group of enthusiastic parents.
Today the Beehive Montessori School is situated in a purpose-built premises beside the sea in Mosman Park and has more than 220 children. Separate areas cater for groups of 3 to 6 year olds, 6 to 9 year olds, 9 to 12 year olds and 12-15 year olds. The design of the school is very much open plan, with each area fully equipped with Montessori material. This especially designed equipment is beautifully made from predominantly natural material and is mostly purchased, with some being made by the teachers themselves.
With a Montessori education, the people directing the children in their learning are often referred to as “Directors or Directresses”. All teachers are registered with TRBWA, (Teacher Registration Board of WA), and all have gained, or are studying for, additional Montessori qualifications. The remainder of the staff at the school comprise of part-time specialist instructors, assistants and administrative staff.
At The Beehive Montessori School, we pride ourselves on encouraging and nurturing the social conscience of our students to engage in philanthropy work. We strongly believe that by giving back to our community, either locally or internationally, we are raising a new generation of socially aware and caring young individuals. We do not limit ourselves to raising funds for various charities but we also support different worthwhile causes as well. Through their philanthropy work and with help from the whole school community, students are able to raise the funds to donate as well as to bring awareness of the charity/cause of their choice.
