Blakes Crossing Christian College

Blakes Crossing Christian College was the tenth addition to the family of independent schools operated by Christian Community Ministries Ltd (CCM). CCM is a not for profit company that strives to develop distinctively Christian schools of the highest standards, for the benefit of the community and to the glory of God.

CCM has considerable experience in establishing new schools and is frequently called upon by various industry groups and individuals, to lend its expertise and/or advise on matters critical to successful independent education. From humble beginnings, all CCM Colleges have experienced healthy growth and with the help of Federal and State Government funding, are continually developing facilities that are modern and in some cases, state-of-the-art. Blakes Crossing Christian College will continue this trend.

Blakes Crossing Christian College forms part of an education and community precinct in the new land development by Lend Lease at Blakes Crossing, Blakeview. Interest in the College continues to be high since the announcement of the development and CCM expects the College to continue to enjoy strong support from the local community.

The College opened its doors to  6 students — from Reception to Year 5 — in Term 1 of 2014.  Year 6 was added in 2015 and Year 7 in 2016. One year level will continue to be added in each succeeding year through to Year 12 by 2021. Subject to demand, the College will be built in seven stages over the next number of years and will eventually cater for approximately 700 students.

The College curriculum meets all State and Federal accreditation and registration requirements, while being taught from a distinctively Christian world-view. The aim of Blakes Crossing Christian College is to give every student a positive, exciting and solid foundation through the provision of care and understanding in an environment of quality education. CCM believes that this combination will develop a sense of belonging, security and engagement in school which will provide students with an excellent launch pad for life.

School is an assumed part of our modern Australian way of life.  Parents often take school for granted.  Consequently, many parents are surprised when they first take their children to school.  They discover their chosen school operates on some assumptions which are not compatible with the way they are raising their children.

Schools always have a purpose.  Sometimes this is written and sometimes not.  Some schools have the purpose of getting children a good job.  Some want to teach children to read and write.  Others feel they have succeeded if the children in their school are happy.  When choosing a school it is important to consider whether the underlying purpose and aims of the school are in tune with your own parental goals and aspirations.

So what is the purpose of a Christian school?  While many schools have commendable goals, the Bible has radically different life priorities from what is taught in most schools.  Christian schooling is designed to provide excellent education to families; an education which has underlying priorities in keeping with Biblical foundations and truth.  There is no area of life where sound Christian principles are not applicable.  Whether it is the teaching of science or language, solving students' social concerns, respecting those in authority, caring for others, understanding people from different cultures, learning about history or geography, discovering leadership, having self-respect or choosing a career path, the truth of the Bible informs a truly Christian way of approaching everything.

Parents in Australia have a valuable opportunity not available to most other parents in the world — a choice to attend a Christian school which is funded on the same basis as any other type of independent school in the country.

Blakes Crossing Christian College provides an education that is compliant with all of the rigours of State and National Curriculum requirements, and is also immersed in foundational Christian truth. Blakes Crossing Christian College is staffed by committed, active Christians in all areas of the College from teaching through to administration.  It is our goal to teach a curriculum which is consistent with Christian biblical truth and also introduce practices to children which honour God.  This is done through a daily routine of commencing the day with prayer, holding regular chapel services and the teaching of Christian Studies to students of all year levels.
