Brampton College help each individual student succeed in their aspirations and achieve their best possible exam results.This is achieved through having a staff of highly dedicated and enthusiastic teachers together with small classes where students can receive individual help and attention. A broad and flexible curriculum allows students to find the course that best suits their needs. The atmosphere in the College is friendly and informal but with a high level of academic discipline. Regular homework and examination practice, closely monitored by personal tutors, are balanced by a range of extracurricular activities. The teachers at Brampton College are highly qualified sixth form specialists, well-practised in preparing young people for their A level examinations and happy to provide personal guidance along the way. Many members of staff are also A level examiners.
Teaching occurs in small groups at Brampton College. The average class size is seven, with a maximum of nine.This ratio enables the tutors to give individual attention to each of the students and take care of their particular needs. Teachers are all highly qualified with many years of specialist A level teaching experience. Many of them are also A level examiners.
Each student is assigned to a Personal Tutor, who provides support with both personal and academic matters. Their Personal Tutor is normally one of their subject teachers and students meet with them every week in a timetabled session. The Personal Tutors play an important role in advising students about university applications and completing the UCAS form, as well as monitoring their progress and general wellbeing.
Weekly tutorials are provided and offer an opportunity for students to clarify points of difficulty, review coursework and deal with any individual problems. In these sessions, tutors work closely with students to improve understanding and develop confidence in dealing with examination questions. Through this ‘oneto-one’ support, we are able to ensure that each student’s individual needs are attended to in preparation for the examinations.
Brampton College provides monthly feedback on students’ progress, which is accessible online by parents. Reports are also sent out regularly, as well as details of mock examination results. Parents’ Evenings are held in the autumn and spring terms to discuss progress.
