Brighton College Dubai’s Success Stories

At Brighton College Dubai, an impressive 23.5% of Year 11 pupils achieved their GCSEs early in the past year, with some pupils setting exceptional records. Ibrahim Chatha, a mathematics prodigy began excelling early, achieving a grade 9 in IGCSE Maths by Year 8, and a grade 9 in IGCSE Further Pure Mathematics by Year 9, a course typically taken by top Year 11 pupils. His achievements culminated in completing A-Level Mathematics and A-Level Further Mathematics by Year 11 with top grades (A* A*), an extraordinary feat typically reserved for the most advanced Year 13 pupils at age 18. His outstanding scores—594/600 in Mathematics and 571/600 in Further Mathematics—place him among the top young mathematicians in the region.

Rudayna Yassin, who joined Brighton College Dubai in Year 10, achieved a perfect score of 200/200 in GCSE Further Pure Mathematics, securing the highest mark in the world. She is on track to achieve A* grades in both A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Hassan Lakhani, a Year 9 pupil, sat the IGCSE Further Pure Mathematics exam in October 2024, and secured a grade 9 with an impressive raw score of 191/200. Hassan is set to complete six A-Level modules by Year 10, further demonstrating Brighton College Dubai’s commitment to nurturing young talent.

Brighton College Dubai’s excellence is also reflected in its TIMSS 2023 results, where Year 5 and Year 9 pupils scored well above the Dubai private schools’ average in Mathematics.

Brighton College Abu Dhabi’s Accelerated Pathway

Brighton College Abu Dhabi has also developed a highly successful accelerated programme, which has grown significantly since its launch in 2016. In the past academic year, 21% of Year 11 pupils sat their GCSE Mathematics early, achieving strong results.

In addition, 25% of Year 9 pupils are currently taking their IGCSEs early, highlighting the school’s commitment to nurturing mathematically gifted pupils. Notable success stories include two pupils, Woojin Lee and Juwon Kang, who both achieved a grade 9 in IGCSE Mathematics in Year 9, two years ahead of their peers and have since progressed to studying GCSE Statistics and Further Mathematics. With the global average for a grade 9 in IGCSE Mathematics at just 3.5%, BCAD’s results consistently surpass international benchmarks, reinforcing its reputation for excellence in mathematics education.

In 2024, 23% of pupils secured the top Grade 9 in their GCSEs, with 50% of Further Mathematics grades awarded at Grade 9, solidifying the strength of its accelerated programme.
