British Columbia Christian Academy

For 25 years, British Columbia Christian Academy has been educating young people in the Tri-City area from the greater Vancouver region, as well as students that come to us from around the world. We serve students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 from a very diverse background that have their history stemming from over 40 countries.

Our mission is to assist the family by providing a Christ-centered, Bible-based education that inspires each student to pursue excellence in spiritual growth, moral character, academics, fine arts, physical fitness and service to others. We do all of these in an environment with a strong community that has compassion for one another.

Our students are taught to be intentional—striving for mastery in everything they do. In order to do this, the students are taught to take ownership of their learning and to set goals which will allow them to excel in all areas, according to their giftings. BC Christian Academy has put in place opportunities for students to obtain high academic training through Advance Placement (AP) courses being offered at the senior level. This allows our students to get dual credits for their AP courses, receiving credit at the high school and university level.

BC Christian Academy is renowned for its strong community where there is truly a partnership between the home and school. Our families will say that BC Christian Academy is like their second home because the faculty and staff truly care for all the children and families in the school, and are there to help them through life’s challenges as they arise.

British Columbia Christian Academy is a Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 Interdenominational private Christian school drawing students from Tri-Cities, Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland, as well as from around the world. BCCA is certified as a Group 1 school by the Ministry of Education. Our vision it to assist the family by providing a Christ-centered, Bible-based education that inspires each student to pursue excellence in moral character, spiritual growth, academics, fine arts, physical fitness and service to others. We have a vision for growth and development and are excited about the future. BCCA has purchased 9.6 acres of land on Burke Mountain in the City of Coquitlam and the school’s Strategic Planning Committee is taking steps to provide a permanent campus that will include newly constructed facilities to handle the rapidly growing student population.

British Columbia Christian Academy opened its doors in September 1992 when a group of Christian families shared the vision for an independent Christian school in the Tri-Cities area. Initially, several classrooms at the old Burnaby North High School were leased to teach a handful of high school students.

There were many hurdles in the early stages. Facilities, staffing, equipment and parent support were all integral to BC Christian Academy becoming firmly rooted. Despite the tough challenges those families endured, they strongly believed God would bless their desire for an independent Christian school.

BCCA Kids Club Childcare Centre is an integral part of British Columbia Christian Academy. Kids Club strives to provide quality care in a warm, supportive Christian atmosphere. We appreciate that parents are challenged in our modern society with many responsibilities and busy schedules, yet desire to provide the best care and education for their children. Kids Club is here to support families’ needs for high quality learning and child care. Our programs are designed for children to learn and play in a fun and safe setting.

To achieve this goal, we offer a comprehensive curriculum in early learning and development for children aged newborn to 12 years. We believe in providing an enriched learning and growing experience for the whole child, in all developmental areas: Physical, Social, Emotional, Cognitive, and Spiritual.

Kindergarten is an important year in your child’s education as it sets a foundation for the remaining school years ahead and provides a framework of life skills that your child will be able to apply to the world for years to come! We are excited to see your child be confronted with the awe and wonder of God as we explore His creation and His purpose for our lives. We can’t wait to watch your child learn, play and grow!

Kindergarten at BCCA provides a Bible-based, Christ-Centered foundation to your child’s education. We strive to ensure every child has the opportunity to shine in the areas where God has gifted them and is given the tools and support to reach their full spiritual, academic, physical and artistic potential.

BC Christian Academy’s Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 7 educational programs (check out our Junior Kindergarten – part of our Kids Club Programs) provide the children with a wide-array of exposure to core and secondary academic subject areas as prescribed by the BC Ministry of Education’s Prescribed Learning Outcomes. However, the distinctive which BC Christian Academy can provide from public school education is that everything is taught from a Biblical and Christ-centred view of life, and, just as importantly, it is all taught by a BC certified teacher who is an active follower of Jesus Christ.
