Brookland Infant and Nursery School is a three form Infant and Nursery School and we celebrate  the rich and diverse community that represents our school. We are a non-denominational community school and are maintained by the London Borough of Barnet. Each year group (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) has 3 classes of 30 children and in our Nursery we offer 30-hour and 15-hour places. Most children go on to attend Brookland Junior School on the same site. The two schools have strong links to ensure that our children’s emotional, social and educational development progresses smoothly from 3-11. Both schools were built in 1952 and have grown and developed over the years.

Our school is a warm and welcoming place with a caring ethos.  We promote an environment where diversity is embraced and where children thrive in a secure and happy environment. Our school is committed to high expectations and the achievement of high standards for everyone and the school community works closely together to achieve our school aims.

Vision
Brookland Infant and Nursery School is a warm and welcoming place with a caring ethos.  We promote an environment where diversity is embraced and celebrated and where children thrive in a secure and happy environment.

Our Brookland Infant and Nursery School vision is a simple statement of the type of school we wish to see and it is at the heart of everything we do.

Be Kind, Grow Together, Learn Forever.
We believe:

  • Every child should be encouraged to be thoughtful, understanding and care about themselves and others. (Be Kind)
  • Every child should be encouraged to develop their full potential in a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which every child should be valued for their individuality, culture and heritage. (Growing Together)
  • Every child’s emotional wellbeing is supported so that they are happy and ready to learn. All children are supported to become independent and reflective lifelong learners. (Learn Forever)

Values
Our Brookland Values support our vision of enabling our children to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society; preparing them for life beyond our school and support the promotion of British Values.  These were devised by our whole school community: children, staff and parents:

Aims:
We aim to achieve our vision and values by:

  • Working together as a team: children, staff, parents, governors and the local community.
  • Providing a safe and happy environment which creates opportunities for each child to reach their full academic and non-academic potential.
  • Offer a broad and balanced curriculum with exciting and challenging learning opportunities for all.
  • Presenting a broad and balanced curriculum that will develop our children’s knowledge and skills; preparing them for them for life beyond our school.
  • Fostering the development of a positive self-image, independence and a sense of responsibility.
  • Enabling children to become aware of their own feelings and to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others.
  • Developing awareness of the importance of caring for the environment and the wider world.
  • Celebrate our diversity through valuing the beliefs, languages and cultures of all members of our school community.

At Brookland Infant and Nursery School we want every child to leave our school the best possible version of themselves and to take with them happy memories of their early school years.

It's a great school. My three children went there, loved every minute of it. Great location, excellent facilities and teachers. Could not recommend it highly enough. People buy properties in the neighborhood to be in the catchment area!
