We'd be delighted to have you join us at the Brussels School of International Studies. We are an interdisciplinary community of scholars, with MA and LLM students, PhD researchers and academic faculty working together, debating and thinking critically about a broad range of questions in international studies.

Composed primarily of the Schools of Law and of Politics and International Relations, we are a unique postgraduate centre situated in Brussels, home not only to the European Union, but to NATO and many other international organisations. Our students come from over 50 countries, and our staff from 12 different countries; we truly are an international academic community.

Whether you study international conflict and security, human rights law, international relations, political strategy and communication or migration (or one of our other MA or LLM programmes), you will interact intensively with your fellow students in your modules, drawn from both the School of Law and of Politics and International Relations. This interdisciplinary intellectual interaction is key to our School. Students interact not only in the classroom, but at the many events, conferences and workshops which characterise the international nature of Brussels. Our teaching philosophy is one of active participation and interaction - not only among academic faculty, PhD researchers and students in both academic and social settings, but also among MA and LLM students themselves.

Situated on the 2nd floor of the building at 2 Boulevard Louis Schmidt in Etterbeek, and very close to one of our partner universities (Vrije Universitat Brussel), we have around 250 students pursuing Masters and Doctoral degrees which are offered by the School of Politics and International Relations and Kent Law School of the University of Kent. These degrees are accredited in the United Kingdom and the quality assurance of all academic programmes at the Brussels School of International Studies is managed through the University of Kent's Codes of Practice and Academic Regulations.

Our student body is diverse, with more than 50 nationalities represented across our programmes. This contributes significantly to the academic as well as to the social experience at BSIS. The value-added of a location in Brussels is the opportunity to expose students of international issues to the working of major international organisations such as the EU and NATO and the many international and non-governmental organisations based in Brussels. Students have the added opportunity of undertaking an internship with one of these organisations.

Kent Law School offers you an exciting, intellectually stimulating and supportive environment in which to study a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes.

With recognised excellence in teaching, informed by world-class and influential research, Kent Law School’s many strengths include its multi-award-winning Law Clinic and the wealth of opportunities it provides for you to enhance your employability and understanding of the application of law in practice.

The Law School is truly an international with students from nearly 100 countries as well as staff from around the world. Our curriculum offers a comparative and global perspective to law, giving students the freedom to analyse international legal developments.

The School of Politics and International Relations, is one of the most exciting and dynamic places to study Politics and International Relations. We combine high quality teaching with cutting-edge research in a supportive environment that welcomes students from all over the world to undertake our undergraduate, postgraduate taught and research programmes.

We have experts in all of the main areas of the discipline of Politics including: Comparative Politics, European Studies, International Relations, Political Theory, International Political Economy, Human Rights and Public Policy. I did my work experience at the University of Kent in Canterbury for one week. The staff that I have worked with, were really friendly with me and learned how to communicate with me by looking face to face It is really a fantastic experience. I hope to come back again next year if I am doing level 3 ... Thank you for having me around :)

Great institution to study law. All the buildings are modern and the infrastructure is good as well. I can really recommend it as a destination for ERASMUS.

I studied at University of Kent (formerly Canterbury Business School at Canterbury University of Kent) back in 1996 thanks to my participation in the Government sponsored Chancellor's Financial Sector Scheme. Although a lot has changed ever since - to be precise, the whole world, not just finance and economics, look very different now - my heart will always be with noble British professors who cared about us, foreign students from the Wild East country, as if we were their own children. Deep respect and a fountain of memories!

I studied abroad from the US to the University of Kent in the Spring of 2006 and had an absolutely amazing time. I lived with 4 British students and was really immersed in the culture, my studies and the amazing town of Canterbury. I made the best memories, learned a lot and made lifelong friends!

My 19 years old son chose Kent University to study. I think he made a great choice as the campus offers very good facilities and has a nice atmosphere. It is a nicely green and very well organised place to study where students feel comfortable, secure enough and where they enjoy spending their 1st year. The city centre of Canterbury is ~8 min by bus from uni...a very diverse and fun city with everything to have great time from a cultural, historical, entertaining, food point of view. Canterbury is the 2nd most visited city touristically after London and whenever we, as parents, go to visit our son, we have a fabulous time as well.

My personal time at University of Kent at Canterbury in 1996 to 1997 was an intensive and exciting period of my life. Especially I enjoyed the well equipped library of the University, which was rich with many classic works of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Also I was lucky that I could participate at a seminar about Buddhism which was designated for the masters program of mysticism held at Kent. Still now I am very grateful to Robert and Kathy Meyer, who led this seminar, because they taught me so many precious information about Tibetan Buddhism. The fun part of my stay were the epic Hip-Hop Parties with all the most beautiful and attractive female members of the African Society of the University of Kent. PEACE and LOVE to all of them, especially to the ones of the Nigerian community!
