Bunka Suginami Canadian International School

Established in 2015, Bunka Suginami Canadian International School provides BC curriculum for students who enrol in the Double-Diploma Program at Bunka Gakuen University Suginami Junior and Senior High. Students enrolled at BSCIS enter the Double-Diploma Program, taking both Canadian and Japanese courses in tandem. Upon graduation, students obtain a British Columbia diploma as well as a Japanese diploma.

BC Education is known as one of the best in the world and British Columbia's Grade 10 students consistently earn excellent marks in the global assessment of Math, Reading and Science.

The Double Diploma Program at Bunka Gakuen Suginami Senior and Junior High School is an innovative, truly global minded and exclusive program. The program is approved jointly by both the Japanese and British Columbia (Canada) Ministries of Education. Students in this program will receive both a British Columbia High school and Japanese high school diploma. The program is designed to provide the best of both systems for our students.

We do this by building programs designed to meet their individual needs and are committed to providing students with a comprehensive academic education thoroughly grounded in British Columbia’s highly regarded and innovative competency-based curriculum.

The BC curriculum truly puts the learner/student at the centre and while encouraging them to develop their thinking, communication as well as personal and social awareness competencies. The core competencies, along with literacy and numeracy, are foundations of the BC curriculum and can be seen as sets of intellectual, personal and social and emotional proficiencies designed to help students engage in deep, relevant, lifelong learning.

The BSCIS staff are a pro-active team that ensure a strong focus on student academic excellence. In the past year 91% of graduating students earned a BC graduation diploma with an “Honours” designation. Our fully certified BC teaching staff is a cohesive team of strong educators who focus on both the students’ academic success along with their social and emotional well-being.

It is our belief that the DD (double diploma) program will open many international and domestic post-secondary doors for our students. Former graduates have been accepted into highly ranked universities in Japan as well as in Canada and Europe.
