Burdekin Christian College

Burdekin Christian College commenced in 1982.  We are situated at the corner of Melbourne and Chippendale Streets.  Because of the availability of underground water its grounds are always green.  Our College is a member of Independent Schools Qld and Christian Schools Australia Queensland and has both a school and an early learning child care centre. At the Burdekin Christian College we recognise that learning involves students, parents and teachers and we aim to provide the support needed to families so that this takes place. We also work with families to support them in reinforcing Biblical values, morals, discipline and standards of conduct.

We realise that through education children are being prepared to be responsible and positive contributors to society and we also ensure that this is achieved by providing individual attention and personal care.   We recognise that we can assist each child to prepare them to contribute to their family and their community and we endeavour to do this through academic success and spiritual, social, mental and physical blessing.

It is a privilege to lead such a great school as Burdekin Christian College. We have great staff, a wonderful parent community and fantastic students. The fruit of the College can be seen daily outworking in the lives of the students. I thoroughly enjoy watching students develop in an environment that really fosters and nurtures their walk with the Lord.

At Burdekin Christian College our aim is to provide an education that encourages students to develop all their individual talents, to learn to treat each other with respect and dignity, and to teach all aspects of the curriculum in the light of God’s word. Our approach encourages parents to be actively involved in the school’s program and to participate in their child’s education.

As a College, we believe in excellence. True excellence can only be found in Christ. From an educational perspective, I am passionate about doing everything to the best of our ability. We believe education alone will not provide us with the wisdom we need to make right choices in a rapidly changing world. We recognise that God is the source of all wisdom, and we are therefore committed to a high standard of education that is based on the values we know that can weather the storms of life.
