CSB Unveils State-of-the-Art Swimming Pool, with Impressive Amenities

Bahrain: The Canadian School Bahrain (CSB) is a leading educational institution in Bahrain, is thrilled to announce the opening of its new state-of-the-art swimming pool on June 5, 2023. This exciting addition to the school educational facilities will provide students with a fantastic opportunity to develop their swimming skills and cultivate a culture of physical well-being.

The swimming pool, measuring 12 x 25 meters with a depth of 1.5 meters, is equipped with top-of-the-line amenities, including 14 toilets, 8 shower rooms, and 8 changing rooms, complete with separate boys’ and girls’ locker rooms. This modern aquatic facility will serve as a hub for our swimming program, which aims to enhance students’ confidence, technique, and teamwork while aligning with the British Columbia curriculum.

The inauguration of the swimming pool took place under the distinguished patronage of Mr. Abdul Ghaffar Abdul Rahim Al Kooheji, Founder of the Canadian School Bahrain, who was joined by the esteemed members of the Board of Directors. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of notable guests including Dr. Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa – President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Schools and Universities, Hamad Rashid Al-Shehhi – Vice President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Schools and Universities, Mr. Wissam Al-Tayeb – Member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the National Teams Committee, and Mohamed Al-Ansari – Chief Executive Officer of the Abdul Rahim Al-Kooheji Foundation.

The swimming program has been designed to cater to students in different stages:

Middle School: The program started from the fifth to the eighth grade in February and March, for 145 students. Primary Stage: For the third and fourth grades, the program took place from April to mid-May, for 173 students. As for the first and second grades, classes during May until the end of June, accommodating 256 students.

In his comments on this occasion, Mr. Abdulghaffar Abdulrahim Al-Kooheji, the founder of Canadian School Bahrain, said, “I would like to thank the Bahrain School and University Sports Union, and extend my special thanks to Dr. Sheikh Sager bin Salman Al Khalifa for his gracious presence and attendance at this celebration, honoring us with the inauguration of the swimming pool. We are proud of Canadian School Bahrain in its fourth year, achieving this accomplishment of opening the swimming pool. We have worked towards realizing an expansion plan for the school by launching its vital facilities, which enhance the educational process that focuses on enhancing students’ academic, intellectual, physical, and personal capabilities. In the third year, we opened the followed by the football fields, and today, in the fourth year, we open the swimming pool. There are more facilities to be inaugurated soon to complete the school’s campus in the fifth year since its establishment.”

The construction of the swimming pool building at the Canadian School Bahrain commenced on February 12, 2022, marking an exciting milestone for the academic year 2022-2023. Looking ahead, the swimming program will be implemented in the upcoming academic year, 2023-2024, starting in September. It will be integrated into physical education classes and after-school activities, catering to students from the first grade to the ninth grade. Added Mr. Al Kooheji.

Commenting on this occasion, President of the Bahrain Sports Federation for Schools and Universities, Dr. Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa said, “I thank Canadian School for this invitation and extend a message to all schools in the Kingdom of Bahrain that sports are an integral part of education. I appreciate the school’s adoption of this modern concept, to keep up with the current trends. Today, we see members of the national team, and it’s beautiful to witness the impressive start of the Canadian School students who, in a short period, have learned the basics of swimming. Swimming is a life-saving sport and an Olympic sport. There are global, Gulf, and Arab championships, which serve as motivation for students to train and become champions. Let us transfer our success in sports to success in our lives beyond school.
