The amount payable each year (subject to you meeting the criteria each year) would be £1,000 at level 4, £1,500 in level 5 and £1,000 at level 6. Payment will be made in two instalments (November and February). You will need to be fully enrolled on a full time course.
Application Process
Applicants will need to complete an online form which is available via MyHub. The Bursary & Scholarship Officer will use the data included on your UCAS application form or provided to us when you completed your online enrolment. If you have indicated that you have been in, or are leaving, Local Authority care, or that you are estranged from your family, we will contact you to advise of possible eligibility for the bursary. If you did not tick the relevant box on the UCAS application form or during online enrolment then you should contact the Bursary & Scholarship Officer, including the information detailed above, and they will ensure you are considered for the bursary.
Payment
Payment will be made via BACS transfer following receipt of the required documentary evidence showing your eligibility for the bursary. Before payment can be made in subsequent years of your course, we will contact you to seek confirmation of your bank account details.
Payments will be made in two equal instalments directly in to your nominated bank account. Payment is usually made in late November and late February, on the basis that you remain enrolled on your course. It is your responsibility to advise us of any change to your bank details at least a fortnight ahead of any award payment date.
Payment will be made in each year of your course, where you remain enrolled on that course. Should you have resits, payment will be made only in your first attempt at each level of study. For a three year course, the maximum number of award years will be three.
Additional Support
We recognise that it can be difficult for students to access all the support and advice available to them. We will work with our Employability & Progression team to set-up additional opportunities for students in receipt of the Care Leavers & Estranged Students Bursary to access advice from one of our Careers Consultants.
