We are a popular school with students, parents and staff alike and this is founded on good working relationships and a caring attitude. We pride ourselves on the warm, purposeful atmosphere that has been created at Caterham.
We aim to cater for the needs of the individual, helping them to realise their full potential whilst giving them the relevant personal and social skills to play a positive role in their life beyond school. We never stand still at Caterham and are always looking at ways that we can improve still further. The emphasis is very much on teaching and learning and that is at the heart of all we do.
We have an expanding and responsive curriculum aimed at enhancing choice and opportunity for students as they progress through the school. Our teaching is both innovative and challenging both in content and delivery where ICT is used throughout the school to bring the curriculum to life and to stimulate and engage students in their learning.
As a comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 18, we are committed to discovering and nurturing the abilities of every child. Setting the highest expectations in terms of learning and behaviour, we are justifiably proud of the academic achievements of our students, most of whom join our thriving sixth form, with many progressing to university. However, recognising that some children’s abilities lie in other areas, we provide a wealth of opportunities and courses that allow every student to develop and showcase his or her unique talents.
The school promotes a ‘can do’ culture in which everyone is encouraged to strive for excellence. Our progressive curriculum places great emphasis on building skills that prepare students for a successful career and a fulfilling life. Using our strengths in Sport and the Arts, we focus not only on acquiring knowledge but, also on developing qualities and skills that are valued in the workplace and the community. Students achieve most when they enjoy their learning, so we encourage active participation in the classroom and the involvement of parents and carers and home. The proactive setting of targets and monitoring of achievement underpins our aims to ensure that the students make the best possible progress.
We uphold the traditional values of respect and tolerance, resulting in harmony in our multicultural community, where the contribution of every individual is valued. With just six forms in each year, we know all the children really well. We work closely with parents to ensure that students are fully supported and make progress to a high standard.

Teachers at CHS are supportive and are always there for students when they need help with anything, the student might be a bit crazy however it really is a good school and it's always seemed a very friendly family like school where student and staff are close.

Parents, I highly recommend this school to your children, as a student personally I can tell you that whatever you have heard about this school, ignore it, the staff are super friendly and the students may be a bit crazy, but Caterham is a school that supports being yourself, but also getting excellent grades
