The Central University of Technology (CUT) identified the need for the diversification of the university’s income streams and it is for this purpose that the Central University Innovation Services was founded.

CUT is globally known for its competency in science, engineering and technology (SET) and locally it prides itself on its contribution to the socio-economic development of the central South African region. The Central University Innovation Services represents the university’s commercial ventures from IP (Intellectual Property) commercialisation to the development of products and services for consumers in and around South Africa.

We actively seek out commercial opportunities and partnerships in the public and private sectors and encourage our staff and students to think entrepreneurially. We contribute directly to CUT Vision 2020 by “producing quality social and technological innovations in socio-economic developments, primarily in the central region of South Africa.”
