Chandos Primary school is an academy within The Elliot Foundation Academy Trust. We are a highly diverse school, with cultures and faiths represented from across the globe. Our great strength is the capacity of all our children, staff, parents and governors to welcome visitors and new arrivals to our school in a positive and tolerant manner.

Our core purpose is to enable children to reach their full potential and have the necessary skills to live as constructive global citizens in our rapidly changing world. We do this by:

  • Ensuring our children feel safe, secure and successful, where caring and tolerant relationships are at the heart of what we do.
  • Developing a love of learning in every child.
  • Providing a high-quality, broad relevant curriculum where every child can achieve their very best.
  • Celebrating and supporting the individuality of each and every child.
  • Working in partnership with families and the wider community.

Chandos Primary prides itself on being an inclusive school. We work hard to ensure the needs of all our children are met, ensuring they make the best possible progress and achieve the highest standards they are capable off. As well as training our staff to provide high quality learning for all our children, we work with a range of agencies to offer further advice and support.

We always try to be available in order that queries and worries can be answered and overcome. We see our parents as partners and value working closely together with you. This process also means that if we have concerns about your child we will always contact you. Parents are seen as an essential part of the decision making process around the learning needs of your child.

Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe, secure and supportive environment. As a school we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safety, through of provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are given advice and have opportunities to discuss how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and PSHE lessons. Whether it be through choice of challenge, of participation in our extra-curricular clubs and opportunities, pupils are given the freedom to make choices.

Chandos serves a highly diverse community with cultures, faiths and people from across the globe. We place a great emphasis on ensuring all children are part of a broad range of multicultural celebrations throughout the year. We enhance pupils’ understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society, giving them opportunities to experience, discuss and share their own faiths and beliefs. We place a great emphasis on the responsibility that all children have in our school to ensure all new comers to our school are made to feel welcome, safe and secure.
