At Chapel Field, our mission is to partner with parents to cultivate a joyful community of students who love the truth, pursue wisdom and virtue, and live for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Chapel Field was founded by William and Kathleen Spanjer in 1986 as a Christian College Preparatory High School. Known for our beautiful 100 acre campus, our Elementary, Middle, and High Schools are surrounded by ponds, creeks, and fields, all nestled in the rolling hills of New York’s Hudson Valley. With academics grounded in classical tradition, we partner with families to provide a culture of joy in which our students can begin their journeys as lifelong learners. Above all else, we at Chapel Field strive to cultivate a community of students who live for the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Chapel Field is accredited by the National Association of Private Schools, and incorporated under the State University of New York.
Our Art program has grown over the past few years into one of our most popular extracurriculars. It is our intention to give our students a deep understanding of the beauty of Gods creation. We work with each student to develop the artistic gifts that God has given them. Elementary students take part in weekly art classes that focus on building foundational skills in art as well as learning basic artistic principles. Middle and High School students who join our art program are assigned a custom weekly schedule that allows them to dedicate attention to the truth, goodness, and beauty in art. The artwork created through the program is annually showcased at both our Christmas and spring concerts.
Chapel Field is part of the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association, also known as the OCIAA. We compete in the Section IX District.
Our drama program allows both Middle and High School students to audition and puts on one major production each year. Our drama club offers students an exciting opportunity to develop skills in storytelling and acting. Along with our two faculty instructors, students can take leadership by working to become student directors, managers, and captains. This is all done with our Christian mission in mind as we encourage our club members to use their gifts for God’s glory.
Under the guidance of Eric Parks, our Choral and Band Director, our music program has achieved great success. Our Christmas and spring concerts are two of the most highly anticipated events on our calendar. Our choral program is included from Pre K through High School, while select men’s and women’s ensembles, concert band, and jazz band are offered to to middle school and high school.
Mr. Eric Parks is a Sergeant Major retired after having served as lead trumpet and soloist with the Jazz Knights Big Band, a component of the West Point Band, for 20 years. For 35 years, Eric was the soloist and lead trumpet with the internationally acclaimed Jimmy Sturr Orchestra which has received 18 Grammy awards. Since joining the Chapel Field Family, Mr. Parks has encouraged and driven our students to excellence not only in the musical skills they have acquired, but also in their attitudes and spiritual lives.
