We are a community school with our children and families at the centre of our values. We believe firmly in our values of which there are six: Engagement, Aspiration, Equality, Respect, Trust and Resilience. If a child or adult can achieve all six values, then they can proudly say that they have achieved excellence.
The school serves approximately 700 children and their families and employs approximately 100 staff. Working together we strive for children who are happy, feel safe and have fun whilst at the same time develop resilience and aspire to achieve the best they possibly can.
Chase Lane represents a wonderfully diverse community and we value immensely the many different cultures in our school. We have over 40 languages spoken which is a true reflection of the cosmopolitan area of London in which we live. Such diversity means that we treat each child based on their unique qualities and interests. All children are valued, welcomed and treated equally and respectfully.
Ultimately, children at Chase Lane are here to learn and we strive to ensure that they are given the best possible start in their life-long learning journey. Teachers and the Senior Leadership Team diligently plan a rich curriculum that enables all children to make fantastic progress with as many exciting first hand experiences as possible. This includes classroom learning, a variety of clubs, workshops and a wide range of trips for all year groups.
Very young children have a habit of asking ‘Why?’ Sometimes it seems like they say this to everything! At Chase Lane, this is exactly what we want. Children are openly encouraged to be inquisitive and ask questions about the world that they live in. Parents and Carers are the most important people in helping develop a child’s understanding of the world and as a school we are here to enhance that understanding. Working together is how we succeed. Governors, teachers, staff and parents are all responsible for the children’s learning.
Chase Lane takes great pride in educating your children. Our aim is to ensure that each individual child reaches their goals and is socially and emotionally equipped for life beyond Chase Lane. At Chase Lane Primary School and Nursery Unit we are committed to the concept of high quality teaching and learning. We therefore believe the children should strive to develop to their full potential.
Achievement in all areas of the curriculum is celebrated. In order to ensure that we are able to meet these expectations, we believe our teaching approaches should comprise a healthy mix of class, individual and group teaching, but at the very heart of whichever approach adopted at a given time is experiential learning. Children, governors, learning support assistants, nursery nurses, office staff, parents and teachers, are all learners together. A real and meaningful partnership between these groups enhances quality education. Everyone in school is special and enriches the life of the school.
All members of the school community are to show respect to each other by always listening to one another and of course all staff take pride in themselves and their work. In striving to continually improve the quality of learning and teaching it is necessary for the school and all its members to be open to critical scrutiny by people within and beyond. Indeed developing quality curriculum will require staff to share their practice and be willing to submit it to the constructive analysis from colleagues and others.
