Our school was started by a group of parents who wanted for their children, an education that not only prepared them well for primary school, but which also has a strong focus on Character Education.

More than a decade later, we continue to work hand in hand with parents to foster Character Education through Academic Excellence… a philosophy we firmly believe in and strive to uphold.

To help parents mould their children into mature, virtuous and competent adults who act with a great sense of freedom and responsibility, and are eager to serve others. To help parents develop their competence as primary educators by offering Continuing Education Programs.

We believe that in order to reach the highest potential of our existence, we need to develop the whole person. We aim to achieve the harmonious development and ordering of the mind, will, heart and body of every child at Cherrybrook.

Character education is a key component of our curriculum because the acquisition of virtues enables a person to develop an upright and integral personality.

Our second foundational belief is that parents are the primary educators of their children and the home is the child’s first and most important school. Parents therefore have the right and responsibility to direct the education of their children. They should be the dominant influence in their upbringing. We believe that parents need to undertake the upbringing of their children with total self-giving so that their children are given the very best opportunities to realize their full potential.

Consequently, in Cherrybrook, parents hold first place of importance. Parents delegate – but never fully abdicate – their task in part to teachers, but they will always be the most important agents in their child’s education. And since teachers serve parents as collaborators in this fundamental educational responsibility, they hold second place.

Parents entrust an important part of their child’s education to the teachers, therefore through both word and example, teachers reinforce the virtues that parents teach their children. In this, they become genuine partners with parents in helping students become well-educated.

We firmly believe, and it has been proven by years of experience in our affiliate schools worldwide, that when this order is in place, a wonderful atmosphere of growth and learning is created. Parents and teachers also benefit and grow in significant ways to forge an ethos - this vibrant, united and spirited culture - and environment both at home and school, in which students can truly learn to seek the truth and to be responsible.

In 1998 a group of parents formed PAFED (Parents For EDucation), a not-for-profit organisation inspired by the spirit and teachings of Saint Josemaria Escrivá, the founder of the Opus Dei Prelature.

St Josemaria challenged parents to be the protagonists in their child's education and correspondingly in the life of the school. Our children's schools should be an extension of our home, coherent with our personal and family values.

Through his writings and personal encounters with families, St Josemaria encouraged parents to be the first educators of their children, starting with a silent and self sacrificing attitude, in order to create and develop these schools.

Cherrybrook Kindergarten started in 2001 with an initial enrollment of seven children along with seven teachers. Now more than a decade on, we have grown more than tenfold!

We owe our existence to people who have contributed their time and finances to make this school a reality - some of whom did not have children attending our school.

Cherrybrook is one of over 150 schools worldwide which share the same fundamental principles of mission, philosophy, practices and views on education. Some of our schools started as kindergartens and have grown all the way up to pre-college level, providing a seamless delivery of our unique education. Others start from the top, at university level. We all share the same vision of empowering and partnering parents in their journey of educating their children.

We sent all our three children to Cherrybrook Kindergarten. This is one decision my husband and I will never regret and we find very instrumental in shaping what our family is now. While most kindergartens emphasize on the academic excellence they can provide their students, Cherrybrook is able to offer much much more. Great emphasis is given to virtues education teaching not only the children to live in virtues but also us parents on how to raise our children in virtues. In addition, the school has a tutoring system which gives parents one on one time with assigned tutors throughout the year to discuss our children's development on all aspects and most especially on their character development both in school and at home. There is genuine concern on the tutor to assist us parents in raising our children to have good moral character. The tutor collaborates with us giving us practical suggestions on how to address issues we may be encountering with our children. It's not just a school but our home for several years. Our family made lifelong friends here.

Both our sons attended the school. My husband and I are very thankful for their professionalism, strong emphasis on character formation based on their unique “Virtues” programme, parent-tutor partnership with goals and action plans tailored for each child, coupled with strong parent formation. For our sons, Cherrybrook is synonymous with fun, play, work well done, another place called home, with loving teachers and friends they looked forward to daily. We are seeing the fruits of the solid holistic foundation received during their formative years at Cherrybrook. It has sustained them well through their primary and secondary school years... and no doubt, life’s journey itself. Thank you Cherrybrook!

A wholesome school with a balance of character formation, life skills learning and academic preparation. No one child is alike and the school knows each of them by their unique ability and talent. That’s what I love about the Teachers.

Cherrybrook has really inculcated a love for learning and strong reading habits. The virtues project they adopt really helps children in their character formation. I have really seen my 3 children blossom in the care of their loving teachers. The tutorial system has helped my husband and myself in our parenting journey, and the strong home-school partnership has really benefited the children. It’s a bit like raising your children in a kampong - a really solid kampong.

This is one school who emphasizes on character formation in the early formative years of a child. The virtues project, the tutor system has been proven to work so well for my son Aidan. My son is now in K2, the graduating class of 2016, we are sad to leave, but very pleased with what a little man he has become. The teachers of Cherrybrook are very dedicated and hold teaching to the highest excellence. Going to miss this place!
