Childs Hill School is a restorative school. We inspire children to achieve their full potential through passionate teaching that develops confidence, curiosity and independent learning within a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

Childs Hill School is a diverse, vibrant learning community where expectations and standards are high. Our children make huge progress in terms of learning, creativity and their understanding of themselves and others. We are very proud of what they achieve and we are relentless in our efforts to ensure that they are academically, socially and emotionally prepared for the future.

Childs Hill is fairly unique in that we are more than just a primary school. Pathways, our dedicated ARP (autistic resource provision) offers 12 pupils a personalised learning experience as they learn alongside pupils in the main school as well as receiving specialist teaching. Pathways enriches the school experience we offer to all our pupils. The final part of the Childs Hill jigsaw is our popular nursery class in which we ensure children make a positive start to their time at Childs Hill. Our nursery class offers full time and part time nursery places.

Childs Hill School prides itself on being a Restorative School. We feel our restorative approach (RA) is central to whom we are, and that it permeates all areas of school life. It touches all our community members (pupils, staff, parents, carers, governors, visitors, students, etc).

RA is an approach to behaviour management where shared values, a caring attitude, good relationships, mutual respect and a sense of belonging are key factors. RA is about empowerment, giving everyone a voice.RA acknowledges that conflicts and behaviours happen. Rather than seeking to blame and dispense punishment, RA repairs harm by finding acceptable ways to move forward for all parties concerned. This helps avoid conflicts by investing time in developing, maintaining and repairing relationships.

We believe that success comes from creating an open, nurturing and stimulating environment. At Childs Hill we recognise that relationships matter; whether you are in the classroom, working with other schools or helping our community, everyone feels safe, secure and above all happy. At our school we support one another through Staff who are approachable and prepared to go the ‘extra mile’. The use of restorative approaches to solve problems. 1:1 tuition for those needing a ‘boost’. ‘Breakfast Club ’helping ensure a positive start to the day.Extra curricular clubs including art, dance, choir, film club, taekwando and ballet. Residential trips building from one night to five nights away throughout the school.

We believe that the most effective learning comes from having hands-on enjoyable and memorable experiences that feed the imagination and fuel the desire to find out more. At Childs Hill the Arts flourish as artists, story-tellers and actors regularly work alongside the children.

At Childs Hill we constantly aim to raise children’s aspirations, helping them to become life long learners. We want to equip them to succeed in the 21st Century as we are not just educating the children of today but citizens of the future.

We want our children to become responsible, active citizens who participate in democracy and public life with respect for diversity and a commitment to working towards greater community cohesion. Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship is at the heart of our school which emphasises the difference between right and wrong and respecting and tolerating differences in a very diverse and modern Britain. We have planned a curriculum that will enable children to make progress towards these aims. Through engaging lessons, and appropriate activities, we can give them all a better understanding of themselves and others in the ‘community of communities’ in which they live. We can secure and influence behaviour and attendance and encourage further involvement and commitment to education.

My wife went here, all her aunts and uncles also went, her oldest aunt used to go way back in 1939, now our kids go, one has left for secondary school, 2 currently attend, and our baby is only a fee months old, but we wouldn't send her anywhere else, that's for sure. We love the school,
