Chorlton CofE believes in a child-centred approach to education, every child should and does matter and, as a school, we will endeavour to be pro-active in ensuring all children stay safe, keep healthy and develop a love of learning to fulfil their potential.
Our vision is anchored in values - Respect, Honesty, Friendship, Perseverance, Tolerance and Enjoyment which underpin all aspects of school life.
Parents/carers will be clearly informed in the admissions process that full-time places are allocated for the complete academic year.A full term’s notice will be required from any parent wishing to withdraw their child from any nursery place.
For all children, the first 15 hours per week are free of charge. Following changes to nursery funding made by the Local Authority, some full-time places will continue to be fully funded. Other children will need to pay the nursery for the additional 15 hours.
We will use the same priorities for nursery admission as those set by the Local Authority for admissions to the main school and they will be applied to ensure that the nursery is full. We will be accepting applications from children born in the appropriate academic year to enter the nursery cohort.
We follow the English National Curriculum which aims to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum allowing access to all pupils at their appropriate level. Every effort is made to make learning enjoyable, worthwhile and ensure the school provides stimulating experiences that employ a variety of teaching strategies. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that children achieve their full potential academically and personally. We aim to develop good global citizens in a modern and world class system - children that are prepared for success in life. The school aims to ignite children's love of learning through opportunities to excite, enrich and explore.
School governors are there to ensure that schools are well run. They have an important part to play in raising school standards by working with the head teacher and senior management team to ensure pupils get a good education.
School governors are the largest volunteer force in the country. They represent people from many walks of life: school staff, parents, the local community and even the church or organisation connected to the school. This means that school decisions are made by people with a wide range of experience and views.
The Head Teacher is responsible for the internal organisation, management and control of the school and the implementation of the strategic framework established by the Governing Body.Individual governors may not act independently of the rest of the Governing Body. Decisions are the joint responsibility of the Governing Body.
Chorlton CE Primary School are delighted to be a board member of the Manchester Teaching School Alliance, working with other partners, to deliver high-quality support for teachers and leaders at all stages in their career within the alliance and beyond.
In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
Without exception, every child at Chorlton C of E is valued. We recognise that every child is unique and we are committed to ensuring that we meet their needs and discover the individual potential of every child. It is our aim that teaching and learning should be an exciting and fulfilling experience for everyone at our school.
We ensure that the teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all the pupils. We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed. In making the provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged.
We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for a free school meal. We reserve the right to allocate the pupil premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.
Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources mean that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time.
Chorlton CE Primary School seeks to develop the full potential of each child, recognising the uniqueness of each individual and having high expectations for all children. We aim to provide a broad, balanced and creative curriculum within a caring environment in which all pupils can develop towards their full potential regardless of ability. The achievements, attitudes and well-being of our children matter.
A pupil is considered to have Special Educational Needs if he or she has defined difficulties over and above those generally experienced by the majority of his or her peer group. These difficulties may be sensory, cognitive, physical, social or emotional and some children may have complex needs, which cover a range of difficulties. This policy aims to address the needs of these pupils.Children with EAL should not be regarded as having SEN, although pupils with EAL may also have SEN.
