Welcome to Corinthian Community Primary School and Children’s Centre. The purpose of Corinthian School is to provide a caring, happy and safe environment, in which the children are encouraged to adopt a positive approach to learning and to achieve their full potential.

We are a vibrant, happy and friendly school, with much going on. We hope that your child is happy at our school.

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Our Values are:

  • Aspire
  • Learn
  • Achieve
  • Together

At Corinthian we uphold and teach pupils about British Values which are defined as:

  • Democracy
  • The rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Mutual respect
  • Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

At Corinthian, we have adopted our own School Values that encompass what the British Values represent as well as what is important to our school community. These values will be thought about during Whole School Assemblies and in class.

We value a positive attitude towards school and our work. We value being ambitious and putting effort into achieving our best.

We value listening and kindness towards others. We value pride in how we present ourselves in and out of school. We value respect for our school and its community.

We value truthfulness and fairness towards others. We value talking about our thoughts and feelings. We value taking responsibility for our actions.

We value all interests and encourage exploring talents. We value and reward positive behaviour and contributions to school life. We value people’s differences and include everyone. We value rules to keep ourselves and others safe.

We value care for our school environment, inside and out. We value sustainability and taking responsibility for our local environment and the world.

We value the children and adults in our school. We value different religions, cultures and languages. We value our families and people in our local community who help contribute to our education.

At Corinthian Primary School we have introduced the Learning Challenge Curriculum, by Focus Education, to provide children with rich and stimulating learning opportunities to engage them as learners. Using the Learning Challenge model, each topic within a curriculum area starts with a prime question followed by a series of questions to encourage deep thinking and greater learner involvement. In each topic there are opportunities for children to apply their skills in Reading, Writing, Numeracy and ICT and to develop their vocabulary within each subject.

The original school was of wood construction (1929) and based on the land adjacent to Florentine Road. In the 1970’s this building was reconstructed using brick with an additional building ( Junior Building) sited adjacent to Stoneycroft field and the school thus became a split site school

Over the last few years Corinthian has undergone major enhancing building works with the single siting of KS1 and KS2 on the Stoneycroft field site and the building of a Children’s Centre with our Foundation Stage on the original school site.

A Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning. Forest School aims to provide unique learning opportunities in an outdoor setting. The development of self-awareness, self-regulation, intrinsic motivation, empathy, social communication skills, independence, positive mental attitude, self-esteem and confidence is paramount. It provides children with the opportunity to take risks, make choices and initiate their learning in a safe but engaging and inspiring environment.

This year we are providing Forest School sessions for Year 3 at Croxteth. Sessions will commence in September. We have lots of fabulous learning experiences planned, including how to build and light fires, tie a variety of knots, build dens, explore natural environmental art, use tools safely, competently and confidently take risks, climb trees, make mud faces for trees and toast food on the fire.
