Croftcroighn School

Croftcroighn Primary School is purpose built to meet the needs of children with complex additional support needs, including cognitive, sensory, communication and physical impairments from P1 to P7. The school also has a Nursery which admits children from the age of 2 years.

Croftcroighn is non-denominational and caters for children of both sexes. There are currently 61 pupils attending the school which is the working capacity of the school. However, this number may vary dependent upon the number of pupils at each stage and the way in which the classes are organised.

We are very fortunate to share our new, purpose built multiplex campus with Avenue End Primary School and Kincardine Nursery which provides us with a very rich environment for the promotion of social and educational inclusion.

At Croftcroighn School, we have a very long and proud tradition of providing excellence in education. We continually look for opportunities to develop and improve our service and welcome new innovations and challenges to further enrich our children`s learning experiences.

We have high but realistic expectations of our pupils and work to ensure that every pupil achieves his or her full potential in a safe, caring and most importantly, happy school environment.

We aspire to promote the holistic development of every learner by providing an innovative learning environment, advancing personalised learning through carefully planned education programmes which provide fun, enjoyment, support and challenge for every pupil.

We endeavour to work in strong and productive partnership with parents/carers and allied professionals to ensure learners’ needs are fully recognised and effectively met so that they maximise their potential for learning and achievement.

To provide a safe, stimulating, supportive environment for all learners, staff and service users; To provide a curriculum which reflects the needs of all learners and is based upon best practice at national and international levels and which promotes curricular innovation; To deliver high quality in-house programmes of professional development for all members of staff and visitors; To reflect the views of parents/carers and the wider school community in all that we do.

Our curriculum is based upon national guidance as set out in A Curriculum for Excellence. This is the basis for all learning and teaching activities designed to promote the development of the four capacities Responsible Citizens, Effective Contributors, Confident Individuals and Successful Learners.
