The Curtin Principal’s Recommendation Award has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support students who have chosen to study at Curtin University.

Each West Australian high school principal can nominate two students for this award. Students can be nominated on any of the below criteria:

  • Academic merit; or
  • Showing most improvement during their high school studies; or
  • Potential to achieve at university; or
  • Adverse personal circumstances; or
  • Financial difficulties

Value
The Curtin Principal’s Recommendation Award will provide the following support as a one-off payment:

Cash payment of $1,000. The amount can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses

Payment will be made mid-March.

Application process

Step 1: Download
Nomination form is available to download from the right hand side of this page when the award is open for application

Step 2: Complete

  • Approved nominator is to complete the nomination form
  • The nomination form is a writable PDF, so can be completed using your computer

Step 3: Submit
Submit the nomination form to the Scholarships Office by the closing date

Step 4: Receipt
Nomination receipt will be sent to the nominator and Principal within 5 working days of Curtin receiving the nomination

Step 5: Assessment

  • Nominated students will be assessed for eligibility and if they receive and accept offer of a place into an undergraduate course at Curtin University in 2021
  • Up to two students per WA high school will be successful for this award if all criteria is met

Step 6: Outcome
Offer will be sent to successful nominees via the email listed through TISC in mid-January 2021

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful nominees must return acceptance documents by 31 January 2021
  • Deferral of this scholarship is permitted (details included in award terms and conditions)

Award is not transferable to another university

Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:

Have a current enrolment at the first census date, in an undergraduate degree at Curtin University.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances, a recipient who breaches the award conditions shall be ineligible to receive the award. Exceptional circumstances must be forwarded to and shall be at the discretion of the Scholarships Office.

Changes to Enrolment
Withdrawal or Terminated from units or course: A recipient who withdraws from their units or course of study, or has been terminated from studies will become ineligible for the award, will not receive any payments and will be required to repay to Curtin University the stipend awarded if applicable.

Eligible courses
All undergraduate degrees.

Eligibility criteria
Nominees must meet ALL of the following criteria to be eligible to be nominated for the Curtin Principal’s Recommendation Award:

  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
  • Selected Curtin University as first or second preference through TISC to undertake an undergraduate degree in 2021
  • Undertaking year 12 in 2020 at a West Australian high school
  • Will be enrolling full-time (75-100 credits)

This scholarship is deferrable for up to one year.
