Darul Uloom has come an extremely long way since those early days in 1985 when the school started with just a small building and even less resources. Our vision was to establish an institute that would create experts in the Islamic sciences who would become exemplary representatives of Islam, preserve the Islamic identity of British Muslims, and possess the necessary skills to benefit the local community and enrich the wider society.
By the Grace of Allah and through the dedication and sincerity of a group of committed Muslims, we established Darul Uloom Al-Arabiah Al-Islamiah in 1985. The Madrasah was one of the first of its kind in the western world. Thus, the Darul Uloom acted as a blueprint for other Madaris, and in subsequent years paved the way for many Islamic institutes to open throughout the country.
Darul Uloom has served its purpose of educating thousands of students with both an understanding of the Islamic Sciences and competency in the National Curriculum subjects - a combination that has provided students the basis to pursue further education in a wide range of disciplines. Students of Darul Uloom have gone on to become great Ulema, Huffaz, and professionals in numerous sectors of society: as Imams, teachers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, councillors, businessmen and many others.
In recent years, there has been a renewed, reinvigorated drive to develop and improve the standards of education further. The Madrasah has taken great strides to further that aim and there are genuine expectations for it to become a centre of excellence and beacon for Islamic learning in the west.
Nurturing a boy through the early stages of his life is a serious commitment and a great challenge for the 21st Century. We are educating our children for a world that is rapidly changing which requires not only an excellent foundation of learning but also the acquisition of strong Islamic principles with forward thinking and problem solving abilities. We believe that all our students are capable of achieving outstanding outcomes and developing into active British citizens who contribute fully to the local and global community. We promote fundamental British values and we want each pupil to question and to think and to act responsibly.
Finally, and most importantly, we believe everyone will be judged by Allah (SWT) as our beloved Prophet (may peace be upon him) said: ''Every one of you is a shepherd, and everyone of you will be questioned regarding his flock''. Therefore we endeavour, strive and struggle to enable your son to achieve personal success in this world and the next.

The School was first established with the primary goal of educating and developing the future ‘Alims, scholars and leaders of the Muslim community in Britain; ones who are well versed in Islamic knowledge but at the same time fully able to proceed on to other professional careers if they so choose; ones who understand the nuances of living as a Muslim but having knowledge and respect for other cultures and beliefs.
Our key aims:
- Instil respect, tolerance and understanding to create an environment where learning can flourish.
- Teach manners, courtesy and cohesion both within the school and outside.

DUIHS combines 1438 years of rich Islamic History and tradition with the 21st century needs of students living in modern day Britain. We provide an exceptional all-round yet balanced Islamic and secular education for boys of secondary school age.
At DUIHS we have students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. However we are all united serving one purpose; practicing and living Islam through mutual love, respect and cooperation.
As well as encouraging academic excellence, drive and achievement, DUIHS places great emphasis on tarbiyyah, the moral and spiritual development of students. Students are taught adab and akhlaaq (manners and good personal character) throughout their time at DUIHS; whether it is respect for their peers or teachers, or understanding and compassion for other faiths, there is constant reminder of the sunnah of the Prophet sallalahu alaihi wasallam (peace be upon him) as well as increasing closeness to Allah.
Darul Uloom provides a unique balance of traditional Islamic education and National Curriculum subjects which aims to nurture intellectual development, interest and enthusiasm for learning as well as achieving the highest results. We follow the GCSE programme of study for public examinations, however we try to teach beyond what is expected through drawing on a wide range of experience and techniques as well as adding an Islamic outlook to each subject.
