Several scholarships, valued at $5,000 each, are awarded annually to outstanding international students admitted to Year One of an undergraduate degree program. Selection will be based on academic achievement combined with any other faculty-specific scholarship criteria. These scholarships were established through the generous support of donors in honour of former Waterloo president David Johnston as a lasting tribute to his 11-year service to this University and in recognition of his passion for international opportunities for students.

In 1957, innovation and entrepreneurship brought University of Waterloo into being, as a group of business leaders imagined a new university built to tackle some of the world’s most daunting challenges.
