De Salis Studio College is part of The Rosedale Hewens Academy Trust, providing education for learners aged 14 to 19. The College has a clear mission to ensure that young people are equipped with the skills of their chosen pathway, have qualifications to demonstrate their ability and have real life experience of the workplace. By accepting their place at the Studio College, learners are embarking on the first stage of their careers in the areas of Criminology, Business, Finance and Accounting, ICT or Retail to give them the qualifications and experiences to ensure that they are ‘work ready’ and an asset to any future employer.

We are very proud of what has been achieved at De Salis Studio College since opening in September 2014. Our ethos is well established with a firm focus on high academic achievement and vocational outcomes for our students.

There are exciting times ahead and as De Salis moves forward into its next phase, its community of learners will benefit from newly refurbished buildings. There can be no doubt that through our firm commitment to delivering the best possible opportunities for our students, De Salis is a place 'where education means business’.

De Salis Studio College is where ‘education means business’ and learning and working is at the heart of everything we do.

Combining academic and vocational learning, students become experienced, qualified and highly employable young people. They have direct experience of the workplace together with qualifications which demonstrate their level of ability. In today’s competitive job market, employers are looking for more than just highly qualified individuals. They want young people who have relevant business and commercial experience. In essence, this is what studio schools have been set up to overcome. De Salis will stand out from other provision in the local area as it has been set up specifically with this in mind.

A team of highly experienced teaching and associate staff deliver the core curriculum, ensuring each individual is able to progress at a pace which reflects their abilities and ambitions. All students attending De Salis are treated as young adults, each preparing to take their first steps into the workplace. Whilst this may be daunting for some, it is intended to be immensely rewarding and fulfilling; giving each student a sense of purpose and direction.

The mission is to ensure that young people are equipped with the skills, qualifications and life experience associated with the workplace as the learner embarks on the first stage of their career. As young adults, each preparing to take their first steps into the workplace, the learners will be well placed to develop the skills, experience and qualifications necessary to be ‘work ready’ and an asset to any future employer.

We have high expectations of our students’ behaviour, attitudes to work and dress. Great importance is placed on appearance, attendance and punctuality. Therefore all learners will be required to carefully observe agreed protocols, be respectful of policy and adhere to procedures in respect of health, safety and well-being. We expect students to behave in a way which reflects the professional approach to learning and the working environment they will regularly visit. Students at De Salis will know how to act in the workplace, fitting in with established practice and procedures. This approach to high standards of behaviour and professionalism forms solid working relationships between local employers and students.

As everyone is expected to be physically active in order to help maintain a healthy lifestyle, students at De Salis are encouraged to make good use of the organised programme of sport and leisure activities.
