Deansbrook Infant School

We extend a warm welcome to you and your child to Deansbrook Infant School. We are a three form infant school with a nursery and we celebrate the rich and diverse community that represents our school. Starting school is an exciting and important step for both children and their parents/carers and we hope that your child’s time with us will be both happy and successful and provide him or her with the best possible start to their primary education.

At Deansbrook Infant School we aim to provide a happy, secure and challenging environment where all children will develop confidence, self-esteem, a desire for learning and will achieve their personal best. We provide a stimulating, broad and balanced primary curriculum through which children are actively learning and individuals are equally valued. We seek to develop positive attitudes towards learning, life and society. We encourage children to have respect for themselves and others as well as their environment and to work and play together in harmony.

A Value is a principle that guides our behaviour and thinking. At Deansbrook Infant School, every individual is valued for who they are and what they contribute to the school. Values are intended to support the personal, social and spiritual development of every pupil throughout the school.

The whole staff team and pupils are involved in promoting values and recognising where others are ‘living the values’. We also value our parents and carers contributions and encourage the values we share in school to be talked about and practised at home and within the community.

Each month the children learn about a new value through assemblies and it is integrated in the learning throughout the day. Values are displayed in a prominent position in the main school and Nursery with suggestions on how the children can show the value with supporting photographs and captions. Children are awarded certificates or stickers when achieving the value of the month. There are 11 values over the year which also link to the British Values.

At Deansbrook Infant School we follow the early Years Foundations Stage Curriculum, planning from the children's interests. We provide a rich and stimulating range of adult-led and child focussed activities that develop all areas of learning and work towards the children achieving the Early Learning Goals at the end of their Reception year.
