Doha British School Al Wakra

DBS Wakra is among the top international schools in Qatar. DBS Wakra has been recognised by British Schools Overseas (BSO) in its November 2021 inspection report as being "an excellent school due to the strong leadership of the principal and the head of primary.” The BSO inspection team noted the following strengths:

• Creative planning and cross curricular links enable the full curriculum to be relevant and meaningful to all pupils
• All lessons observed were at least good and in a considerable number the standard was excellent
• Pupils’ personal development and spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is at least good in all respects and is exemplary in significant elements at DBS Wakra
• Behaviour is exemplary at all levels of the school, which is proactively encouraged through high expectations from all staff
• The school’s leaders articulate and share a clear vision of outstanding teaching and learning at the school

We want our students to complete their education here as well-rounded individuals. We believe that character development is highly important, intrinsic to our work and which reflects and promotes our school values.

Our responsibility for character development will encompass

• Encouraging children to understand, value and demonstrate the positive behavior traits which would make them well-rounded, grounded citizens;
• Developing the skills required to function in and contribute to society;
• Supporting the social and emotional development or emotional intelligence of young people, such that students better understand themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and can work on the latter;
• Instilling and developing a moral compass about how to interact with people and understand their behavior.

DBS AI Wakra is a small school with big plans for world-class learning which is situated at the heart of the Al Wakra community that it is proud to serve. We are accredited by the Council of International Schools, British Schools of the Middle East, Qatar National Schools Accreditation, and British Schools Overseas (the latter of whom judged us, quite correctly, as an 'outstanding' school). Our small student numbers in each year group allow us to offer a personalization of learning that is not always found in larger schools and the family feel of our warm and welcoming site helps our young people to thrive in an atmosphere that is right for them.
