She was also the Founding Principal of Amity International School in Abu Dhabi, as well as the Executive Principal of the Amity cluster of new schools in the UAE.

Barbara brings over 29 years of experience in education, having held international and UK Principalship positions since 2007. She has worked extensively in the Middle East and Europe and more recently in Prague, London and Abu Dhabi.

Barbara’s passion for school improvement ensures that her key priority is always in establishing high performing teams and promoting each student’s academic success and well-being. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Education from the University of East Anglia, UK and has been an ISI inspector for over 5 years.

Barbara is also an Associate Leadership Trainer of Karen Ardley Associates, UK and has travelled the world facilitating leadership programmes to aspiring leaders. Barbara strongly believes in distributed leadership and empowering others to be the best version of themselves. Her work as a Counsellor for ChildLine and as a Safeguarding Lead has helped to shape her work on establishing and embedding Values programmes in schools. She has also worked closely with UK universities as a mentor of PGCE students and is excited to continue this work, being a strong believer in supporting younger teachers to be aspirational and brave in their approach to teaching.

Outside of school, Barbara is a keen walker and has completed charity walks in India and the UK to support ChildLine and WaterAid as well as more leisurely treks across many continents, her favourite being Petra and the wadis of Jordan.
