Coptic Christmas Day

Coptic Easter Sunday
Coptic Christians in Egypt celebrate Easter on Sunday following the full moon after the vernal equinox. This, along with Coptic Christmas, is one of the two most important holy days for Egyptian Christians.

Sham El Nessim
An Egyptian national holiday which marks the beginning of Spring, Shom Ennisim is celebrated after the Eastern Christian Easter.

Sinai Liberation Day
This public holiday is celebrated in Egypt which remembers the land of Sinai’s liberation.

Labor Day
Most schools and businesses are closed during Labor Day in Egypt.

End of Ramadan / Eid el Fitr

Eid Al Adha Holiday
Eid al-Adha is a national holiday in Egypt, as in other Islamic countries. The feast celebrates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice even his son Ishmael.

El Hijra (Islamic New Year)
This holiday is celebrated on the first day of Muharram.

Armed Forces Day
The Armed Forces Day is a public holiday observed in Egypt on October 6. It is celebrated during the day Egyptian and Syrian forces launched attacks against Israel and the Sinai Peninsula.

Moulid El Nabi
Also called the Prophet Mohamed’s birthday, “Mawlid al-Nabi” is celebrated every year in Egypt by Muslims.
