F1 in Schools is now acknowledged as the world’s most exciting STEM based educational project and engages with learners through the magnetic appeal of Formula 1.
In sponsorship with Al Habtoor Motors, EISJ is thrilled to be the first school in the UAE to host the F1 In-Schools race day! We are so proud of the students who have taken this challenge and gone beyond expectations.
Formula1 In-Schools is an international STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) competition for students (aged 11–19). Working in groups of 3 to 6, students must design and manufacture a F1 miniature car. F1 In-Schools launched in the UK in 2000 as a Design & Technology Project to address the ‘Four Key Concepts’ of Design & Technology as a Subject: “Creativity, Designing, Making, and Critical Evaluation.”
The 7 F1 EISJ teams (42 students) who will be participating in the race on Saturday 20 March are: 21 Drivers, Emirates Odessey, Team Alpha, Titan Motorsports, Turbo Motors, Veloce and Vota Racing. The teams will be racing against each other to see who will represent EISJ at the National F1 Event. This event has previously been held in schools across the world in countries such as USA, UK and Singapore.
The National F1 event, will provide students from over 150 schools from UAE the opportunity to attend the event in May this year. Up to 4 teams from each school will be selected to represent their school on this day. The top two teams will represent their school and the UAE at the World Championships in Singapore.
This EISJ in Schools Race event is being livestreamed via YouTube with an average viewer count of approximately 15 000 – 20 000 people from across the UAE. We are so excited we can’t wait to watch them ‘’burn rubber’’!
