Emmanuel Community School’s situated in the heart of Walthamstow, we are a Christian school, seeking to serve our diverse and vibrant local area. We welcome children of all faiths and no faith to our caring and friendly school community.

Having opened as a new school in September 2012, we received our first ever Ofsted report in July 2014. The report acknowledged the school to be good with outstanding features. More recently, in December 2018, Ofsted visited us again, and found that our school continues to provide a good standard of education and that safeguarding is effective. We are excited about building on this strong foundation as we seek to move to outstanding in all areas.

Comments from the reports include

  • Outstanding leadership by the headteacher, leaders and governors has established a good school within a short time.
  • Provision for pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent. It is embedded in the subjects taught and in the ethos of the school. Parents and carers value the strong sense of community. They appreciate how the school lives up to its Christian ethos through staff who are ‘unceasingly caring’.
  • Teaching is good, because staff have high expectations.
  • Pupils make good progress.
  • The school is a caring and nurturing place in which pupils behave well and get on well with each other. Pupils and adults care for and respect each other.
  • Attendance is above the national average.
  • Leaders are vigilant in safeguarding the well-being of all pupils, including the most vulnerable.
  • There is a clear vision for further improvement and a strong determination to bring this about. Leaders and governors are ambitious for the school and the pupils.

We have outstanding children at our school and we are very proud of them all. They can be pleased to read Ofsted’s reports and to know that their excellent approach to school has been acknowledged. With such fantastic children and a strong school community we know that, by God’s grace, Emmanuel Community School will go from strength to strength.

Emmanuel Community School is a Christian school. It’s Christian ethos is at the heart of its mission to serve the local community. The school welcomes children of all faiths and none whose families value a Christian education. We aim to provide for children’s moral, social, cultural and spiritual development. We instil in our children positive attitudes to learning and children are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions. The school is a friendly, welcoming and culturally inclusive community where pupils show a strong awareness of the needs of others.

Children join Emmanuel Community School at the start of the school year in which they reach their fifth birthday. The school has an annual intake of 30 children each year and, as a primary school, it is divided into what are known as KEY STAGES of learning:
