For over 50 years, Flinders has been a centre of inspiring achievement: from our pioneering research and excellence in teaching to the positive impact we have in the communities we serve. Inspiration leads to innovation. But innovation is more than just a buzzword at Flinders. As we enter an era of disruptive change and remarkable technological innovation, Flinders is well prepared for this unpredictable, exciting future. Our strong network of external links keeps our work dynamic, enabling us to connect across barriers to create enterprising solutions for the future, to make a difference by changing lives and, ultimately, the world.
Our fifty years of teaching and learning alone didn’t put us in the top echelon of world universities. Nor have our state-of-the-art facilities and teaching footprint that extends from South Australia, Western Victoria to the Northern Territory. What got 90% of our research rated world class or above was commitment*. An unshakeable, unbreakable commitment to Making A Difference.
Not just to our students but to a larger world through Flinders graduates breaking new ground in all corners of the globe, with students engaged in research in everything from medicine to manufacturing, through leadership and linkages with the wider commercial world. We Go Beyond the norms, the naysayers and the barriers. That’s what Making A Difference is all about.
Our vision is to be internationally recognised as a world leader in research, an innovator in contemporary education, and the source of Australia’s most enterprising graduates. Changing lives and changing the world. Our underlying ethos of being student centred is a distinguishing feature of the Flinders experience and is the measure by which we judge the impact of innovation in teaching and student support.
Innovative courses will be led by inspirational teachers, supported by advanced learning technologies, to create a learning experience that is flexible, richly interactive and highly personalised. Our teaching will embed in every degree program research opportunities that nurture the creativity and critical thinking skills that will be determinants of success in an information-rich world. Our clear focus on student success will distinguish Flinders and empower students to achieve to the very best of their abilities, irrespective of their background or individual circumstances.
The Flinders Experience will provide work-integrated learning opportunities and a thriving international mobility program that will enhance personal enterprise and intercultural skills development, enriching the educational experience. Flinders graduates will be equipped to make a difference in the world as respectful and ethical global citizens. The achievements of our students and alumni will be the measure by which our success as a provider of world-class education will be judged.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
I have 3 university degrees from 3 different countries. I do not recommend Flinders University. Staff at the Department of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology were particularly unhelpful and sometimes hostile towards international students. Additionally, the degree acquired there is in my view inferior when compared to similar degrees from other Australian Universities. I know less when I compare myself with graduates from other Australian and non-Australian. Had I known then what I know now I would never have applied for a degree there.

My experience with Flinders across three degrees has been overall a positive experience looking back. I can imagine everyone's experiences will vary quite drastically and everyone's situations will be very different.
Within the digital media departments the quality of the learning and the support that the academic staff give is outstanding. This has been my highlight at Flinders. Other departments weren't so supportive or up-to standard however.
The public events through the student associations are a great way of creating a sense of community too and through Flinders you will definitely make new and lifelong friends.
I can't comment too much on student services but I can imagine that international students would find navigating there way around and figuring out what to do and how to do it would be difficult. Developing strategies to more effectively combat this confusion would see a great improvement in student relations with the uni.
But you will only get out of it what you put in. If you put yourself out there and really do your best then you will have a good time.

Don’t recommend any international students come to this uni. Waste money and time.
Hardly learn anything from tutorials, some of the tutors never prepare for the class. All the things they can do is wasting time and Google.
For nursing student, the course arrangement is another joke, because students amount is far more than the capacity they have. No small class at all, especially the lab class, so many students in one class, it is very hard to engage with tutors.
All the topics in nursing are tutorials, which means tutors didn't talk much in the class, it's all group discussion. The admission of nursing is low, tutorials usually are full of international students, as we pay more money. But because of the low standard, most of the students are not getting used to the teaching method here, so the tutorials are just always quiet, hardly learn anything from it.
Placement arrangement is ridiculous, they don't care where you live, whether you have a car or not, they just send you to any place they like. 50-100km far away from the place you live is normal. And you can't change it unless one of your family members suddenly die or you were in a car accident.
For nursing student, sturt campus is separate from the main campus. The facilities here are old, the campus is tiny and with only one cafe which is extremely expensive. Study here you will never have any uni feeling.

Staff is very uncooperative. They never think about students. Go anywhere don’t waste your time in flinder university.

I'm a mature aged student going back to study through the Foundation Course. My lecturer, Jane Habner and my tutor Madele Van Dyk are so talented and so inspirational. Because of these two ladies I am excited to have enrolled and inspired to do well. The campus is well equipped and offers a multitude of services for anyone who is keen to make something of their lives in an informative, supportive environment.

I've had to change my review to a lower rating because of the poor quality of the distance education program. There's not as much effort or time spent making the materials user friendly, leading me to believe the DE part of Flinders is only there to bring in money. My program was MSW and I wouldn't recommend it to others. Little improvement after many complaints by other students. Go elsewhere.

Would describe Flinders and it's campus as traditional and modern at the same time, kind of casual but still professional. For certain schools by reputation Flinders is the number 1 choice of uni for Adelaide.

One of the worst university for studying nursing. Teachers and support staff are rude when student ask any verbal question. Email replies are within three days but they are sort of in general reply to any specific question. NO ONE at Flinders University especially in the nursing department cares about students. Most of them have taken their job for granted given the number of student enrolment in the nursing program. The only graduate quality that nursing students achieve from this university is anxiousness and depression due to staff/teacher bullying.

Flinders University has been a game-changer for my son; the dedicated staff inspire confidence while his remarkable growth speaks volumes about the quality of education here.
