Our students are proud of their school community and strive to fulfil their promise and potential. We staff all work together across our sixth form family to provide the best academic and pastoral support we can, so our young people can be the best they can.

Results are outstanding, with almost half of all A level grades A*-B and a pass rate of 100%. In 2020 four of our students took up their places at Oxford and Cambridge university and nine students were accepted at Medical school – a BSF record! 85% of our young people go to university – including one in four who take up their place at the most competitive and high tariff universities. with all others on secured destinations on apprenticeships, employment or other education pathways. Most importantly, our young people are confident, caring and well-rounded individuals and they make us all proud to work at Beal Sixth Form.

As trustees of a charity, academy trustees must comply with the following duties

  • Compliance – they must ensure that the charity’s resources are used for the charitable purpose and that the charity complies with the law and its governing document i.e. the articles of association.
  • Care – they should take reasonable care in their work. In practice it simply means ensuring that the academy trust is managed efficiently and effectively. It also means considering the need for professional advice on matters where there may be material risk to the charity.
  • Prudence – they must act responsibly, making sure that the academy trust’s assets are protected and used for the benefit of the charity. The trustees must make sure that the academy trust is solvent and keeps appropriate financial records. These requirements are reflected in the funding agreement and Financial Handbook.

Our Library is situated on the ground floor near the entrance, and has an experienced Librarian to offer help and advice.

The Library offers a range of resources which support the National Curriculum and all subjects taught from Year 7 to Sixth Form. There are around 8,000 resources as well as seventeen internet-linked computers and printing facilities. The non-fiction and reference resources will help with projects and homework, while the fiction section features many of your favourite authors.

We promote a reading culture through the school and run the Accelerated Reader programme for students in Years 7 and 8. Also various quizzes, competitions and events are run during the year.
