Galliard Primary School is a good school where the learning and achievement of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do. We ensure that children learn skills and develop their knowledge and understanding with a curriculum which is integrated, interesting, practical and fun.
We have a large Early Years Centre where two and three year olds can experience a range of activities and develop their early learning skills while their parents and carers can work or courses and activities which help with the sometimes difficult job of raising a family.
In school, we continue to work in partnership with parents and carers so that they can also take a real part in their children's learning and we do all we can to support this through parent consultation evenings and parent workshops.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to be the best they can be and we have lots of different ways of working with groups of children to ensure that they make progress, whatever their starting point.
Above all, Galliard is a community where we look after and learn from each other. The school's Code of Conduct 'Be kind, be. Safe, Be Responsible' and our Core Values 'Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Compassion, Courage and Justice' run through everything we do.
Our vision is to ensure that pupils become successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve; confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives; responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
The vision, values and ethos of the school has for many years been underpinned by the school’s core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Compassion, Courage and Justice. These are taught explicitly through the curriculum and wider life of the school and we believe they fully embrace the definition of British Values. There are many examples and opportunities for these values to be demonstrated every day. Every half term a Core Value is carefully considered and discussed in assemblies, in class and as part of the wider life of the school with and between pupils, parents/carers and staff. They are displayed around the school, on the website, in newsletters and provide a common understanding for all members of the community. Pupils who go above and beyond the demonstration of these values are acknowledged for this in an Achievement assembly and with a special certificate.
